Chapitre 52: Expensive gift

"We haven't got any word yet," she said and Selena nodded in understanding. When Selena lay down on her bed she took out her wedding ring underneath the pillow. She thought of leaving it behind with the note but Edith dissuaded her.

It was customary for her to keep her wedding ring as it was her property and part of the compensation in the divorce agreement. That ring was worth half of his estate. That's how expensive it was but Selena didn't care about that.

She had been staring at it each time she missed him. He never said much but his actions said everything. The ring danced around her fingers as she resisted the tears threatening to fall. They were never destined in the first place and she was fairly aware of it.
