Namjoon had just returned to his study room when the doorbell rang. He went to check who was at the door and was surprised to see his mother, Mrs. Jung, standing there.
"Mom, you're back?" he asked, opening the door wider to let her in. "How was your gathering?"
"It was very good, Namjoona," she replied with a smile.
Namjoon offered to get her some water and went to the kitchen to fetch it. When he returned, he asked if she wanted anything else.
"No, son, I don't need anything," Mrs. Jung said. "Come sit with me. It's been a long time since we had a mom-son talk."
Namjoon sat down next to her, wondering what she wanted to talk about.
"How come you're home early?" Mrs. Jung asked.
"We don't have much work today, and there were no meetings either. Dad had a meeting post lunch and took Hobi with him. He asked me to have some time off today, so I thought of meeting Jin Hyung, but he was busy and I couldn't meet him, so I came home."
"I see," Mrs. Jung said. "Speaking of Jin, I remember that your Rhea aunt is looking for a suitable marriage alliance for him. And guess what, your Eun Jung aunt asked for Shine Hye's hand for Kookie. Today, everyone was talking about marriage. They even asked me when I am getting Suga married, but I told them that Suga is not ready for marriage yet."
As Mrs. Jung mentioned the topic of marriage, Namjoon was caught off guard and choked on the water he was drinking.
"What do you mean, Mom?" he managed to ask after clearing his throat.
"I mean that your aunts are looking for marriage alliances for your brothers," she explained.
Mrs Jung noticed that Namjoon was in shock and tried to console him, "Why are you so shocked Joona?
Eventually every one of you is going to get married." Namjoon tried to explain his concern, "Yes Mom, but don't you think that it's too early for Jin Hyung to get married. I mean, he has just started his career and he has so much more-" but he was cut off by Mrs Jung. "I know son, but your Rhea aunt wants him to get settled before he goes to the US," she said. Namjoon was even more shocked now, "What, he is going to US?" Mrs Jung confirmed that Jin was going to the US for a year to expand the business. Namjoon was lost in thought, and Mrs Jung had to call out to him again to get his attention.
After the call with his mom, Namjoon called Jin and asked to meet him urgently. Jin could sense the worry in Namjoon's voice and asked him what had happened, but Namjoon didn't respond and just arranged to meet at the café where they usually meet. Jin was left wondering what had happened to Namjoon, "What happened to him suddenly? Why is he sounding so upset?" he thought to himself.
Jin was lost in thought as he walked out of the costume trial room, so much so that he didn't even notice Tae calling out to him. It was only when Tae repeated his question that Jin came back to reality.
"What happened Hyung? Why are you talking to yourself?" Tae asked.
Jin snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Tae. "How come you're here?" he asked.
"Dad sent me here to pick you up. I hope your work is done. Let's go Hyung, I'm too tired and I need to sleep," Tae replied.
"Sorry Tae, but we need to go to the café first and then we'll go home. I don't know what happened to Joona. He called me and he was sounding very upset," Jin said.
As they were leaving, the costume manager approached them, "Sir, let's go for the trial," he said.
"Manager-nim, I'm sorry, but I need to leave. I have some important work to attend to. I'll complete the trial tomorrow," Jin replied.
The costume manager was taken aback, "But sir, tomorrow is Saturday, and you don't do any work related to the agency."
"It's okay, Manager-nim. I have already taken an off from both my office and agency tomorrow, so I'll come tomorrow and give the trial. But now I have to leave, and I'm already late. Let's go, Tae," Jin said, gesturing to Tae to follow him.
As they reached the car, Jin's phone rang. He quickly checked the caller ID and saw that it was Joon.
"Where are you Hyung? I reached the café," Joon said.
"I am on the way, Joona. I'll reach there in 15 minutes," Jin replied.
"Okay, Hyung, come fast. I'm waiting," Joon said before hanging up.
Jin felt a knot in his stomach as he got into the car. He couldn't help but wonder what had happened to Joon and why he sounded so upset.
Kookie and Shine walked out of Bighit Entertainment, happy that their three-month break had finally started. They were excited to meet their friends and spend time with them after months of training.
