"If it's an urgent mission then I'm coming too," Devon said before getting up on his feet.
"Um….I don't remember Michael telling me to call you." Aurora said.
"Well, is there anyone to go with her then?" He asked.
"Now that I think about it, there really is no one, Alvis left with John not too long ago and I'll be leaving with Krayan soon for a special mission, so you two are the only ones left to form a team." She averred.
"Then why didn't Uncle tell you to call me?" Devon inquired.
"Isn't it obvious? She can't control you whenever you two go out for missions together and you always end up messing things up." Aurora blurted. "But you should come along just in case he changes his mind because she can't obviously go alone."
After saying that, Aurora turned around and began to make her way down the rock.
As soon as she was out of sight, Devon turned his gaze to Emilia to see that she had her head down.
It didn't take too long before the two got to the underground hideout and after getting there, they made their way to the large room where they usually met up to discuss matters regarding their illegal business.
The two were entering the room right at the same time as Aurora was leaving with her teammate Krayan and at that time, Devon made quick eye contact with him as the two walked past each other.
The only one in the room happened to be Michael who seemed to be standing in a corner reviewing some things that he had written on the board.
"Um….you called for me?"
Michael slowly turned around to see Emilia standing there, and before he could say anything to her, his eyes caught Devon standing a little distance behind her with a sheepish smile on his face.
"What are you doing here?" He asked as a serious expression suddenly appeared on his face.
"Hey, uncle, how're you doing this evening?" Devon asked with that sheepish smile still on his face.
"I asked you a question, Devon," He grumbled.
Being his uncle, Michael had a lot of similar features to Devon.
They both had black long hair and brown eyes but they were still some noticeable differences.
Michael had an inverted triangle jawline, a straight but slightly pointed nose, and lips that seemed to be a little plump.
He had nice-looking facial hair running around his face and connecting with his hair.
He had quite a muscular build with bulky arms and abs you could almost see through the thin cloth he was putting on.
And unlike Devon, he gave off a calm aura.
"I know I messed up again, uncle, but are you really planning to send her on a mission alone?" This time that smile was gone from his face.
"You still haven't answered my question, Devon."
Devon didn't reply immediately as he let out a deep sigh before folding both of his hands into fists.
"You want an answer, fine then, I came so that you could tell us the location for the mission and every other detail regarding it." He declared.
"And what makes you think that you're qualified to go for any more missions?"
"Huh? But you can't just send her alone."
"I wasn't planning on doing that, Erina is way more stealthy compared to you and, she has better skills and can actually be useful to Emilia compared to you who only ends up getting her into trouble," Michael remarked.
"Oh, no, not again," Emilia muttered before slowly putting her gaze down.
"You're not seriously planning on sending Erina out uncle."
"Did I stutter while saying it?"
"But what if…."
"I know what you're going to say but keep quiet, none of that is going to happen, you always have something wild going on in that mind of yours. I gave you a simple instruction, listen to Emilia and follow her lead but you still went off and did whatever you liked, she is very calm and collective unlike you that's why she's the leader despite you being two years older than her. I guess growing up with you as a big brother to look up to sort of rubbed on her the wrong way, you should be ashamed of yourself, Devon."
"No, it's not that," Emilia said as that part seemed to have stung her too.
"Keep quiet, Emilia."
"I'm supposed to be ashamed of myself? Maybe that's true, but aren't you the one who brought us up to become thieves, and then you try to justify that with your stupid moral..."
"Shut your trap!"
That was where he crossed the line causing Michael to yell at him.
"I am not going to go through the pain of explaining it to you when there's something urgent to take care of right now, I am going to let Emilia choose between you and Erina, and whatever choice she makes is what's going to stand," Michael affirmed. "Emilia be quick, make your choice."
"Um…okay, I don't think Erina needs to leave, someone might come in hurt and if she's not here things could become dire so, Devon will do." She replied.
"It seems you like suffering because of him," Michael said before letting out a sigh. "But I guess I should have seen this coming. This is your last chance, Devon, if you mess up again, you two will be banned from going on missions together no matter what, now come close so that I can tell you everything you need to know."
_______ _______
After being told everything they needed to know, the two set out together.
Normally Emilia always had a red dress on because she loved the color red but for missions, she had to put on a green hood to hide her identity and for Devon, it was a black hood because it was the stealthiest color known and he just liked the colour.
Emilia had her bow in her hand with her quiver on her back while Dave had a long sword sheathed on his back.
The two quietly made their way through the forest until they finally got to the cliff where they were supposed to wait for the prize to show up.
Audaznimo was mostly surrounded by forests if you were someone coming from the east and most of the smaller kingdoms and villages who came to do business in the kingdom were situated on the west away from the kingdom.
In order to get to Audaznimo to do business they had to pass through this road or go through the forest.
The road had the problem of bandits and thieves like the two who were standing on the cliff and those who decide to through the forest will hardly encounter anything like that, but then they would have to face beasts and most of the times, it wasn't just ordinary beasts.
This was the reason why the adventurers guild became more popular and spread out but still, they didn't really have that many manpower to handle everything so robberies still happen every now and often just not as rampant as it was in the past.
"It's here, right?" Devon asked.
"Yeah, we just have to wait, but first." She said before she brought out something tiny from the pouch around her waist and stretched it to reveal that it was a telescope.
She pointed the telescope toward the right where the prize was supposed to be coming from to see whether it was close.
"Looks like we won't have to wait for long, it's almost here, it's a cart with one man on the horse and three around the cart. From the looks of it, there could also be someone inside so we shouldn't ignore that possibility." She pointed out before bringing down the telescope.
"And what's the plan?" Devon asked.
"They are not moving that fast, but we'll still need to strike them fast so there's no point in both of us staying here, we'll have to hit them from both sides at the same time." She expressed.
"So, what you're saying is that…."
"Yeah, I think you got it." She said before she pulled out an arrow attached to a rope from her quiver and shot it toward the tallest tree close to them.
The arrow went up and wrapped around the tree giving her a rope that she could use to easily get down.
"I'll be going over to the other side now, you can also use the rope to get down easily." She said before pulling the rope to make sure it was strong enough.
After making sure the rope was strong enough, she grabbed onto it and quickly jumped off the cliff.
"Don't forget, there might be someone inside."
After reaching the rope's limit, she let go of it, and while she was still in mid-air, she shot out another rope arrow toward the tallest tree in the area where she wanted to hide.
As soon as the arrow got to its target, she grabbed onto the rope just before she could hit the floor and allowed the rope to drag her into the hiding spot which was just a bush with a bunch of trees.
"Wow."
Watching all that happen right before his eyes, he couldn't help but say that.
"She's gotten so much better, and it's like she's a completely different person out here."
It didn't take long before the cart came into sight, Emilia wanted to start the operation immediately but seeing them stop right there made her a bit reluctant.
"I think we should take a small break here." One of the men walking alongside the cart said.
"Yeah." The two walking alongside the cart replied.
"Fine." The one on the horse replied with a puff before he halted the horse and came down from it.
There was a hint of authority as he said that which was a ground to assume that he was the leader.
Now there were two men each on both sides.
"This makes it even easier for us," Emilia muttered from where she was hiding.
"Wow, they stopped, this just became easier then," Devon said from the distance he was standing on the cliff to avoid getting spotted by them.
He was holding onto the rope now waiting for the right moment to jump off and take them by surprise from above.
"I just wish I could teleport down there and get this over with." He mumbled.

"Huh?"
Before he knew what was going on, he found himself standing before the two men on his own side.
At that same time, both of the men on Emilia's side were suddenly pulled down by a rope.
She seemed to have attached something to it, as both of them suddenly fell unconscious as soon as the ropes caught them, and that made it easier for her to pull them away.
On Dave's side though, things weren't going so well.
'What just happened?' Devon said subconsciously with a puzzled look on his face.
"Who are you and how did you suddenly appear here?" One of the men asked as they both were on the defensive after seeing the sword on his back.
"Um…about that." He replied with a sheepish but awkward smile on his face.
He was still trying to process what just happened but there was a job that needed to get done.
