Following the success of the eastern tower defense, Abraham decided to move his Muslim foot archers from the eastern to the central wall in order to support the troops stationed there, in their efforts to protect the gate.

The citizens of the city brought water, stones, and arrows to the defenders at the gate as the troops rushed behind them, everyone doing their part in this crucial battle. Everyone knew that if the defenders were defeated, each one was going to pay. The fate of the ancient city was at stake, and everyone was determined to keep it safe from the ruthless French invaders, for after all if they failed they were going to pay the price.
