Chapitre 120: The Winter Advent (2/3)

We quickly left after Cythistia dealt with the woman who's name I still don't remember. And I was expecting us to go back to enjoying the festival, but it seems that our encounter just now ruined it for Cythistia.

I asked if everything was okay and she said it was fine but I could easily tell that it wasn't fine at all. She was obviously upset by that encounter and I really didn't want to see her like this, especially not today when we're supposed to be enjoying ourselves together.

As we were strolling through the street stalls, I was trying to think of a way to cheer her up again, and as I was doing so I heard someone calling out to me.

"Hey! Traytora!" It was the Snowhide twins and their respective husbands, Triteas and Runaq.

"Nice clothes you two got there. They match very well." Runaq complimented.

'Thanks! It was a complete fluke that they matched so well. As for you lot, you seem to be very well dressed also.' I complimented back.

""Thank you very much."" The twin rabbits said at the same time, stunning me slightly at their impeccable coordination.

"Ah yeah, they do that during winter for some reason, cannot separate them at all when they're like this." Triteas complained.

I looked at them with visible confusion.

"Yeah we don't understand it either, we've just accepted it at this point." Runaq commented.

'Well, since we met up, shall we go and enjoy the festival together?' I asked.

"Yeah sure, sounds like fun. You guys don't mind them joining right?" Runaq asked.

""Not at all!"" Rayla and Reyla responded.

"Of course not." Triteas answered also.

"Great! Let's get going then, we haven't had anything to eat since this morning so we were going to get some food, that okay?" They asked.

'Yup.'

And so we joined up with them to get some food. They got their own meals as did I while Cythistia only got a snack, still bummed about earlier. The main reason I wanted to spend some time with them was to hopefully brighten her mood with a positive atmosphere.

It might seem like it wasn't working but I could tell that she was glad to have some more company. It was something to keep her mind occupied, and as long as the topic wasn't brought up she would be back to normal in no time.

"Hey look!" Runaq said, pointing at something off in the distance. "They're putting on a play this year! They haven't done that in decades! If we go now we can get some prime seats as well!"

""I wanna go see it!"" The twins adamantly demanded in their creepy synchronised voices. Still unnerving no matter how much I hear them do it.

Runaq led us to the play and found us some benches to sit on and as we waited for the play to start, we engaged in some idle chit chat.

"I assume this is your first Winter Advent, yes?" Runaq began the conversation.

'Indeed it is, and I'm glad I'm spending it with the one that I love.' I answered.

"And that would be her I'm guessing?" He asked further, pointing towards Cythistia.

'Ah! Where are my manners, this here as you may or may not have guessed is Cythistia Velphine.' I introduced.

...

""Wait..."" The twins took a moment to process who I was talking about, and when they realised, they looked at the person in question with their mouths agape.

"Really girls? This has been news for months. Me and Runaq figured this out when we first met Traytora. I mean, a red serpentine with a Velphine? Pretty easy to figure out considering that Traytora is the only red serpentine that I know." Triteas explained.

The twins then nodded in unison and understanding.

The pair then got up and bowed to greet her formally. ""Greetings miss Velphine.""

"Oh you don't need to be so formal here, I'm not on duty or anything." She responded.

"I've just realised, you haven't said much since you joined us." Runaq noted.

"Ah, yeah, just... Not had a good day is all..." I grabbed her hand as her tone became more despondently the more she spoke.

"Why's that?" Triteas inquired.

"I'd rather not talk about it." She answered in a downcast manner.

The four of them looked at me with concern in their eyes and I explained to them what happened with the porcupine woman. When I finished retelling them the earlier events, they all understood why Cythistia was like this.

"Wait... It's THAT bitch?" Runaq suddenly asked my stag.

"Yes, it was her..." She confirmed.

"Why are you feeling down then? That whore had it coming." That last statement shocked us all a bit, as we didn't expect him of all people to say such a thing.

I mean, a noble shouldn't just go around calling people whore's or even bitches, and here he is, just doing it haphazardly.

""Should, should you be saying such things?"" The twins questioned, probably concerned for his status or reputation.

"Normally I should watch my tongue yes, but when it comes to that bitch? Hell no, I ain't holding back." He declared. "The reason I'm saying this is because I've heard of her being an absolute whore, that combined with my one encounter with her."

"Wait, you've talked to her before?" Cythistia asked curiously.

He then regaled us with said encounter, "Yeah, this one time when I was in a library doing some work, she came up to me asking for help, something to do with helping her get back at you for something. I'm not sure what though as I just punched her in the face."

Again, we were shocked by what he said, not expecting a noble like him to be so crude towards someone.

"What? Like I said, she had it coming, not just from me, but from you as well. Honestly you should've done this ages ago."

While I do agree with him, I don't think it's that easy to just get back at someone like that, especially for someone like Cythistia. She was kind by nature, no pun intended, and that made her more vulnerable to being attacked and abused by others.

And due to her sense of duty to the city and the people in it, she felt like she couldn't be aggressive towards them or else she would feel guilt towards her actions when she's supposed to be a beacon of light for them.

That seemed to change today as she finally snapped after seeing me not holding anything back and burning her face and leaving a permanent scar.

"So what did you do anyways? I mean so long as she's not dead or something it should be fine." Runaq pried further.

I glared at him for asking that as it clearly makes her uncomfortable, but to my surprise, she actually answered.

"I basically put her in a prison made out of the city, with branches that scratch at the scar on her face." She explained.

"What kind of prison and what mark?" He asked.

She began by saying, "Well, the only reason I did this in the first place was because Traytora here gave me the courage to even do it by burning her face."

To which I interrupted by specifying, 'Hellfire specifically, which increased her pain based on the amount of sins she's done in her life. So if there aren't any catholic priests around here, she won't ever be able to get rid of it.'

I heard some hisses from the group when I told them that.

"Uhh... Anyways, I basically just used my powers to create branched that extended from the ground to entrap her by holding her limbs in place while also forcem them inside of her orifices and making them scratch at her face." She finished off.

Once more they were all stunned, including Runaq, at what they had just heard. It wasn't normal for people of nobility like them to be doing things like this so when they did do it, their brains just shut down for a few seconds before they turned back on and allowing them to register the information.

And before they were able to say anything there was a roaring cheer from the people around us. When we turned to look at what was going on, we realised that the play was starting so we brushed this topic aside to watch the play.

L’AVIS DES CRÉATEURS
Wyvers Wyvers

Ah, finally, I can write whenever I want without worry about getting up at a specific time, this is nice. Also it would be greatly appreciated if you could leave a review on your thoughts of the novel so far regarding the plot, the structure and all of that. It would greatly help me in both improving my writing skills and motivation to write.

That's all, Bye Bye for now!
