The exam room door swung open with a squeak.
Louis stepped out, long legs taking him smoothly forward. He coolly fixed a button on his shirt, a good-looking face showing no signs of emotion.
Alicia watched him closely. Seeing him so chill, she figured he didn't hear what she and Henry had been talking about. She sighed quietly in relief. She was brave about everything, except when Louis acted upset and wouldn't talk. It was worse than any fight.
She took a flask from a guard, filled a cup with water, and gave it to Louis. "You good?" she asked.
Louis took the cup and drank. "Just a heart check, no biggie," he answered, not caring.
One eyebrow up, Alicia asked, "Was your doctor a guy or a girl?"
Louis stopped, then laughed, giving Alicia's small, cute nose a playful swipe. "When did you start getting jealous?"
