It was Genevieve's voice. A voice shaped by years of teaching, unique and instantly identifiable.
Alicia quickly tried to push Louis away, her eyes wide with shock. Louis, however, stayed cool, his arm still wrapped around her slim waist. He turned his head to face Genevieve, a slight smile gracing his lips. "Good evening," he acknowledged her, maintaining his poised composure.
Genevieve had just come back from a Latin dance class, all sweaty. She gave Louis a brief look, her voice icy and detached. "Now that you're divorced, you should stop exploiting my daughter."
Louis released Alicia but kept hold of her hand. The dappled shadows of leaves danced on his attractive face, casting an intermittent light.
"You've got it wrong," he said with a charming grin. "I'm actually dating Alicia now."
Genevieve snorted in laughter, opening her mouth as if to say something but then choosing not to.
