Emilia let Max escort her out of the restaurant, his arm protectively draped over her shoulder, pulling her close.

It seemed that the rumors about them had spread and there were more reporters than Emilia had anticipated.

"I can take care of myself, you know," she grumbled in a low voice that only Max could hear. 

"I know," he acknowledged as several bodyguards cleared their path. 

Nathaniel had increased the security around her recently and on top of that there were multiple members of the Mafia tucked away in the shadows, ready to move if Xander showed his face.

The press was no threat to Emilia and Max, cameras did nothing, but they were just a pain in their ass. 

A car was already waiting for them when they reached the driveway of the restaurant.
