Retreat
The Headmaster of the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry sat in his office, trying to figure out what was going on around him.
Either the house elves were disappearing, or the school was taking away much of his ability to influence the castle, but giving him more energy. Then the Fae start a feast at the edge of the forest. Then Filch is able to use magic, but he's clearly gone mad.
Strange writing on the castle wall, and yet no one knows or has seen the intruders! Is that even possible?
Angrily, the old man pops a slice of lemon into his mouth, but the sweetness does little to calm him.
More importantly, Dumbledore had been informed that someone had decided to interfere with his influence. Quite successfully, too, as Fudge, who had been reluctant to help him before, is now too busy to see him! Not even an appointment! What on earth is going on?
He also picked up a letter from Gringotts on his desk, informing him that a case has been opened against the Potter family and several other clans for embezzlement. How dare those little people accuse him of anything! And when he came to retrieve the money from the Potter vaults and presented the key, they took it from him, examined him and then informed him: 'What right did he have to that key, and where was its owner?
Dumbledore was taken aback by such a question and explained his rights to use the vault as Harry Potter's guardian. The goblin smiled defiantly and demanded a guardianship document. Annoyed, Dumbledore handed him a document authenticated by the Ministry of Magic. The goblin looked it over, nodded to something and climbed into a desk drawer, emerging with a strange form in his hands. And Dumbledore suddenly realised that it was strange...
- Mr Dumbledore, as you probably know, the Guardian has access to the Guardian's safe, but there are limits to the amount the Guardian can take. The first amount you took, however, was two million galleons. We turned a blind eye to this because the boy's home was destroyed, his relatives killed and he had no possessions. Absolutely. So we didn't check. But the next time, just two months later, you took another four million galleons. And that's when the Gringotts Council began to wonder where the money was going. However, knowing your reputation, we kept quiet and did not raise the issue of inspection, as the boy was hiding from the rest of the Reavers and therefore probably needed a lot more money than usual. However, in eleven years you had confiscated the sum of eighteen million. And then our bank launched an investigation into where the money had gone, but we couldn't trace it. And we couldn't find the boy. Which is surprising, given our resources. But the fact remains. But this year Harry James Potter came to the school and we managed to look at the boy and check his standard of living, his education and his skills. And what do we see and learn in the end? And that the boy walks like a starving boy, but that's OK, anything can happen. We checked his medical records and were absolutely shocked by the number of health problems he has! Poor quality food, constant malnutrition and terrible living conditions. We referred our inspectors to the people who lived with the boy. And what did we find out? The boy has been living with Muggles! For ten years! And they treated him like a slave, to put it mildly! True, that changed at a certain age, but the fact remains. But what struck us most was his level of preparation for integration into the magical world, which was below zero. And now we demand that you show us the accounts of where the funds you took from the Potters' safe for the boy were diverted. We are also blocking your access to his safe pending a full investigation into the charges against you: embezzlement and misappropriation of custodial funds, and embezzlement and sale of his property. This action has been referred to an international court because you are a very high profile figure and the British court is not in a position to try you. By the way, we are confiscating the key. If you have any questions, we expect your lawyer in a week at the latest. You will be notified by post of the date and time of the hearing. The same applies to the place of the hearing. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a lot of work to do. Please leave the bank.
Of course, Dumbledore tried to do something and somehow influence the goblin, but at some point he just found himself in the street before he even realised what had happened. And the doors of the bank would not open for him. And even if the doors were opened by others, he could not get in, because when he went in he found himself in the street. He tried for a long time to do something, but nothing worked. Frustrated, he went to the Ministry and tried to get to Fudge, and strangely enough he did, but when he asked the Minister, he just shook his hands and said that the goblins were perfectly within their rights, as there was such a contract and checks on the child's safe. Dumbledore then asked him to help with the declarations, to which Fudge agreed and asked how much he should declare. On hearing the amount, however, he choked and coughed. He drank some water and then pointed at him, Dumbledore, while insulting the Headmaster in good faith and refusing to listen to him any further. And as he found out a little later, Fudge had ordered him not to see him again. For no reason whatsoever. Two days later, an envelope arrived from the Ministry, but the matter had been hushed up because of Dumbledore's influence at the local court. Yesterday, however, another letter arrived. And as it turned out, the preliminary hearing had taken place without him! The main hearing, however, would be in Germany in two weeks' time. He looked around and was surprised to find that he could not get away with it. Even kompromat would not help, because the court would only be attended by those against whom he had nothing, and even a few who did not like him and would be happy to drown him.
And now Dumbledore was desperate for a way out, but he couldn't find one. So he summoned Potter to convince him that the money was needed to pay off his parents' imaginary debts. And he had already prepared the receipts. That would be a great defence for him. At the trial, he will say that he did not want the boy to get into trouble because of his parents' debts, which they had incurred while fighting vigorously against Voldemort. After all, they might have been met by enemies in Diagon Alley. The story may seem real, but the fact that the boy had such a life cannot be denied. Bloody goblins! Should they have stuck their long noses into this?!
Just then, there was a knock at the door and the headmaster cursed again. In the absence of the gargoyle, who had written her leave request on the wall in the corridor, he now had no time to prepare for the meeting!
Disguising the cognac as tea, he let himself in, and a shaggy-haired Potter peered into the office, his glasses slipping slightly from his nose.
- You wanted to see me, Headmaster? - He asked shyly, and immediately the Headmaster smiled and was about to let him in and start working on him, when the door opened and behind the boy stood an unfamiliar Dumbledore figure, dressed in wizarding robes, but with an unusual concentrator. A staff.
The boy walked in and the man followed quietly, standing behind the boy.
- Excuse me, who are you? - The headmaster asked the mage.
- My name is Buromir. I am from the International Judges Association. I have been sent here on a mission to keep an eye on the boy and not to put pressure on him because of the suspicions connected with you. I could not introduce myself earlier as I had just arrived and was on my way to see you when I saw my client walking towards your office. So I decided to take him into custody as he was on his way.
- I see," the headmaster said with a frown. And then the game began. The Headmaster showed the foreign Auror the receipts and asked Potter to confirm the veracity of his words. But when he saw the receipts, the boy looked from the Headmaster to the Auror and back in surprise. Then he blurted out:
- What are these? - it was explained to him. - This is the first time I've ever heard of my parents owing anyone anything.
Dumbledore nearly broke his wand under the table at this turn of events. It seemed that things were going to be a little more complicated than he wanted...
The end of the retreat
As I walked out the door of the headmaster's office, I exhaled loudly and almost swore. You bastard! He wanted to get rid of the accusations with the kind of debts my family has! But he's going to rub it in, because the goblins have already checked everywhere and sent enquiries to all the wizarding families of their people, who have confirmed that the Potters owe nothing. And the only Black we had in the bloodline was raising her teenage daughter and didn't know about the debts. And who else in the family would know? Bellatrix was a Reaper, so she would never lend the Potters money, and they wouldn't ask for it. Sirius was the only one left, and they had already sent goblins and some wizards to him in prison. And they had also prepared the materials to get the oaf out of Azkaban. Incidentally, his interrogation about the debt, while under the influence of a truth potion, will touch on his guilt about the details of what happened at my parents' house. And he would have to say something that would cause a Ministry official on his way with the goblins to jump on his words and reopen his case. He will also start a retrial. And then he will be brought into the courtroom and asked the right questions under the potion, which will exonerate him. This will prevent him from falling under the old man's influence again and prevent him from using him to frame my family for non-existent debts.
Especially when he doesn't know about it, and couldn't have got the money because he was in Azkaban. And his next of kin was in the same place, and the family member who had changed her name didn't know about the debt. So there you have it. But the old man doesn't know what he's in for. He's going to lose the case, and more lawsuits will be filed almost immediately. And all the right people will be happy to support our side. And some others will have been bribed or will themselves be bent by the evidence to the decision I want.
Oh, and many of that old man's accusations will be called into question. And the release of Sirius will only convince the people more. I don't need any more tension between the Walpurgis Knights and the Order. And so I will soon begin a new chapter in the story, entitled: The Dark Lord is back! Long live the Dark Lord!
Hee hee hee hee hee!
