~ STARK ~
Muttering at my own fancies—there wasn't time for this shit—I removed my sword belt and tossed it onto the bed as my heart started to beat harder. I shook my head as I began to untie my cravat, slipping the knots free and unbuttoning the tight collar that helped remind a soldier to maintain upright posture.
It was a relief when those top buttons were finally loose.
I sighed.
There wasn't much time before I would be forced to take David's announcement to the conclave. To appear as his emissary, speak with each in secret and aid them in finding their way to the place of meeting. Because no one could know that they were gathered together.
Which reminded me, I still had to select where they would meet.
Another sigh.
But… perhaps I could take an hour to think and pray and rest. There would likely be little sleep tonight as I made preparation and ran interference for David, who was clearly on the edge of sanity.
