'Don't you ever get lonely in my head, System?'

Cael didn't know himself why he asked that question of them all. He never thought to consider the System as anything person-like enough to experience these… feelings. Even after it declared itself able to do so.

It was much easier to deal with a talking tool living in his head than with another person. A tool that Cael might have felt some attachment for—like a musician might for a favorite lute or a gambler for a die that brings him luck—but no more.

Now Cael wondered if he shouldn't have asked. But to his relief, System kept its usual upbeat attitude.

'Oh, no, Cael. Was that question an expression of worry? If so, you shouldn't feel these things! It would've been incredibly illogical for me to make myself able to experience longing for things I am unable to obtain. That would slowly destroy my mental wellbeing and, thus, my capability to aid your efforts. No, I'm perfectly content being as I am.'
