Cael walked towards the ornate chalice. It stood on a raised pedestal and was big enough to fit his entire head. Blood filled it to the brim, so there was enough to feed both vampires.
But he was cautious. Was that yet another trial?
If there was, then it differed from others. Cael saw no door to anywhere else. A complete dead end. Whether this place was a part of the tests or a reward for them, the only way back seemed to be through the previous three rooms.
"I can try this on myself, I suppose…" Cael muttered, leaning over the chalice. The blood looked like any other fresh human blood would. He hovered his palm over it and felt that it was warm.
Suddenly, the chalice shook. Cael staggered back and saw it rise higher as the two stone statuettes that held it came to life and stood up striaght. Their eyes lit up with an ominous red light. Four red dots focused on Cael, pinning him to the floor with the potency of their attention.
A... trap?
