Chapitre 74: The only thing they know for real

The fall wasn't long, but Cael wasn't falling alone. Alongside him were Ginevra, clumps of earth and many old rocks. He grouped up his body and turned away from them, protecting himself.

Cael landed in a crouch on a stone floor several meters below, surrounded by debris. His feet blared with pain in protest, but he knew nothing was sprained or broken, so he shot to his feet and looked around.

"Gin!"

But she was fine, and standing up, too. Dirtier than before, but like Cael, she landed well enough.

"Where the hell are we?" she asked, looking around.

The sunlight fell from the wide hole above their heads, lighting up the surroundings. The building they stood in was a grand hall some day, with walls decorated with frescoes and polished floors. Now it was another ruin, just better preserved than the one below. Dust covered everything, making it hard to see what the engravings were about. A lone tall arched door led outside.
