Two days passed in a whirlwind as everyone scrambled to prepare their best attires and capture mice. 

On the day of the ball, the entire residence buzzed with activity as maids rushed back and forth to assist Shen Nianzu, Eva and Vivianne— starting from a full body massage, spa treatments, dressing, make-up, hairstyling, all against the relentless ticking of the clock. 

Of course, Eva wouldn't have possibly passed up on the opportunity to flaunt herself to Jin Jiuchi at every chance, so she kept bossing him around – fetching her hairpins, shoes, making her a drink, and so on – treating him just like a maid. 

Yet this time, Jin Jiuchi couldn't bring himself to complain, if it meant he could watch Shen Nianzu getting dolled up as well. 

"How does it look?" Eva tilted her head to admire her diamond earrings in the mirror, her tone boastful. "It's pretty, right? Don't even think of ever owning something like this; it's only mine!"
