Los Angeles, California, 1 PM.
Daisy was on the campus terrace with three of her friends. They were sitting on the stairs, each with a phone. She sent a huge amount of money to them and asked them to send it to Irina so that Richard wouldn't know that she was the one sending the money.
"I don't know why you have to be like this if you just want to send money to your sister," said Angela, Daisy's friend.
"I can't explain it now because it's private," answered Daisy anxiously.
"Could this be related to your sudden marriage to Richard?" asked Cecilia, Daisy's friend who was sitting next to Angela, while Daisy was sitting next to her friend named Zoya.
Daisy sighed and slowly nodded her head.
"Daisy, tell us... We won't tell anyone about your secret," pleaded Angela.
Daisy fell silent with her face bowed. The woman wearing long pants paired with a white top and carrying a gray bag who always wore gold-framed glasses did not know whether she should be honest with her friends or not because she was very afraid that Richard would be angry with her.
"Daisy... Be honest, your honesty can make us not hesitate to always help you," pleaded Zoya, who looked tomboyish with blonde hair.
"Actually, Richard and I never planned to get married," said Daisy, slowly starting her honesty. She looked ahead with a blank stare because what was on her mind was about her wedding day. "At that time, as you know, it was stated on the invitation that Richard would marry Irina, but a few hours before the wedding, it turned out that Irina ran away with Ferdinand. That made me have to replace her position... And now, Irina is in trouble... I feel like I have to help her, and I don't want Richard to know..."
"Could it be because he still holds a grudge against Irina or still wants her?" asked Angela seriously.
Daisy shook her head. "I don't know... I just want to be careful."
"I don't understand..." Cecilia shrugged, glancing at Daisy.
"Okay...." Daisy sighed. "So... I feel very grateful because Richard accepted me even though he didn't want me at all, even before he hated me. But since the honeymoon, everything has changed... He's sweet, he wants to learn to love me, he even helps my dad to repair his company... I just don't want him to be angry or hate me again if he finds out I'm helping Irina... I think even though he has accepted me, he still has hatred, grudges, or disappointment towards Irina..."
"That makes sense, especially since Irina left him like that," Angela replied, nodding her head. "If I were Richard, I would hate Irina too."
"But surely Irina has a reason for leaving him," said Zoya.
"Richard looks perfect, so why did she leave him?" shrugged Angela.
"Maybe Richard has a bad side," said Cecilia.
Daisy breathed heavily, looking at her friends who were now curious about Richard and Irina. She wanted to explain the situation to them, but suddenly her gaze was diverted to the black car that stopped in the yard.
"Richard..."
"Wow...," said Angela in awe as she saw Richard getting out of the car. "Look, he's so cool, handsome... You should be grateful that your sister left him on the wedding day because you finally became his wife!"
"Yeah, you got a perfect guy without having to struggle!" exclaimed Cecilia, still staring at Richard.
Daisy stood up immediately, carrying her bag. "I have to go now. Don't ever tell him or anyone about the transaction earlier," she whispered while looking at Richard, who was approaching her.
"Okay, don't worry," Angela replied.
"Next time, you have to tell us about him!" Cecilia exclaimed.
Daisy just kept quiet, quickly approaching Richard, who was welcoming her. She smiled, seeing her husband looking very cool and dignified, wearing a black suit and black glasses.
"I didn't expect you to come here," she said.
"I want us to have lunch together," Richard replied, immediately welcoming Daisy by kissing her lips for a moment. He glanced at Daisy's friends, who were watching him, making him smile thinly. 'They must want a life like Daisy's, but it's not as beautiful as they think,' he thought to himself.
"After lunch, are you going back to the office?" Daisy asked.
"No," Richard said, embracing Daisy from the side, then walking back to the car while saying, "Maybe after this, we'll go to your parents' house..."
"To my parents' house?"
"Yeah... I know you miss them. So, let's go there. I also want to talk to your dad about his company's management. I don't want him to go bankrupt again, so I need to teach him," Richard said casually, then let Daisy enter the car after the driver opened the door.
Daisy was silent, letting Richard enter the car through the other door. In silence, she did not expect her husband to pay attention to her family, especially the company so that it would not go bankrupt again.
'If he's not sincere to me, he wouldn't do all of this. I'm really confused, should I trust his kindness or not?' she thought.
"Is everything okay?" Richard asked.
"Yeah..."
Richard wrapped his seatbelt, then looked at Daisy, who was also looking at him. He took off his black glasses, then removed his wife's glasses as well.
"You always hate me with glasses," Daisy said.
Richard smiled thinly. "Not really, Baby... I just don't want your eyes to lack air," he said, wiping Daisy's glasses with available tissue.
"That's true... My eyes aren't okay."
"Don't you want to wear contact lenses again?"
"No, I'm traumatized."
Richard chuckled again, remembering what happened in Italy.
"In Italy, we aim for a honeymoon but we dealt with the hospital; it was annoying," Daisy said.
"Oh yeah... Don't forget to see the obstetrician next week," Richard said, remembering Daisy's contraception. "You have to get the injection again," he continued, looking at Daisy, who immediately frowned.
"That's annoying, especially since my waist will be very sore after the injection," Daisy replied grumpily. "You should try male contraception, so I don't have to do this," she continued.
"I can't. I don't want to take risks... You know, male contraception is still in the experimental phase."
"But I don't like it..."
"Then do you like to get pregnant?" Richard asked, making Daisy immediately look at him with horror. "Why?" he asked again.
"I don't want my plans to be ruined," Daisy answered anxiously. "Being pregnant will make me unfocused on my education... I have to finish my final tasks to graduate," she continued.
"What will you do when you graduate?"
"I will help my father manage his company..."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I have to be the one to help him because..." Daisy stopped mid-sentence, feeling sad as she remembered her family who had no sons, while Irina had run away with Ferdinand.
"It's only you who is the family's hope to manage the company," Richard said casually, then looked ahead. "I understand you, Baby... Everything now seems to depend on you," he continued.
Daisy fell silent, understanding Richard's words. Everything did depend on her. If she couldn't win over Richard, her family might not receive his help. And if she acted selfishly, no one else would be able to fight for her family's company except her father, as entrusting the company to someone else was not an easy thing to do.
"I don't forbid you in your efforts to help your family, they do need you," Richard said, then reached out to caress Daisy's cheek. "Show them that you are a daughter who can show filial piety to her parents, not always putting them in difficulties like Irina," he continued.
Daisy nodded softly.
"Now she's far from the family, she'll regret it." Richard looked ahead again, suddenly taking his vibrating phone.
Daisy remained silent, imagining what if Irina regretted leaving the family and eventually returned. It would make her parents happy, but she would feel awkward as she was now Richard's wife.
Richard checked his phone, seeing a message from his confidant.
My confidant: Sir, there's a significant expenditure under Daisy's name to three bank accounts. This is very unusual. Would you like me to investigate?"
Richard frowned, then glanced at Daisy who was lost in thought. He also remembered Irina and Ferdinand's financial struggles, making him wonder if Daisy was secretly sending money to them.
