Chapitre 6: (6) The world will always stay below my feet as long as I have the will to walk!'

This situation didn't necessarily mean a bad thing.

Mangrel was stuck in a hard position thinking about his future advancement. But with this beggar guild-like organization's interference, there was hope left.

Truthfully, even the thought of eating the beggars in the slum alley passed through his mind at one point.

It was better to do that than to use some evil arts and absorb their life essence. He didn't have a peerless art that could let him absorb others' life force while not getting contaminated in return.

If any impurity appeared in his already trash-like aptitude, Mangrel's cultivation journey would be ruined before it even began.

Eating beggars can be considered as a temporary means if he didn't find a way to get some origin stone.

Feeling a gaze fall on himself, Mangrel broke the train of thought in his mind.

Mangrel opened his mouth timidly: "S-sir when will my mother come back?"

He asked Jeken who seemed the most disappointed in the disappearance of his mother.

"Pfft! Hahaha! She isn't going to return, you trash! Didn't you sell her off? Hahaha!" Laughter left Jeken's mouth unceasingly for a while.

"I sold my mother off?" Mangrel's voice and eyes started shaking intensely. It looked so severe that it felt like he was going to lose consciousness from the sheer amount of shock.

"No-no!, I didn't sell her...!" Mangrel eyes appeared shaky, as he responded with an unstable voice.

Jeken continued with glee: "Of course, you got the food as your payment, did you forget?"

Mangrel's head inclined to the ground as all life left his body. The dead look in his eyes gave him a perfect heartbroken look.

Reane, who looked at this, retracted his gaze: 'I guess there is no need for me to teach him a lesson. He won't have second thoughts about running away anytime soon.'

Mangrel could feel the evil intention hidden behind Reane's eyes. Hence, he put on such an act. There was a possibility of them being violent from the beginning, so he made up such a story, it was not made with no thought behind it.

The story Mangrel made had taken these three people's personalities into account. There was another use for this story, that was for the future.

If these three people appeared to have plans on harming mangrel from the beginning, this plan would have been executed immediately.

In the fierce glow of the purple sun, Mangrel and the others moved to the other side of the slum alleyways through the middle of multiple houses.

The construction site was very near to the area where the beggars lived, namely the fifth sector of Rueven city.

Shortly, Mangrel arrived at the construction site crossing over the bridge made of the plain wood board on a river. Dust rose extensively, obscuring the view of the whole site.

More than three huge houses were being constructed at once, and hundreds of workers could be seen working with their equipment.

This site made a spark appear deep within Mangrel's pupil.

'The purpose of this house seems to be very important. Most of the houses I came across here were made of low-quality brick and Wooden frames.'

'But in these houses, very high-quality limestone is being used along with a strong metal as the frame.'

Mangrel moved a few steps before coming to a stop.

"Why are you still standing there like a statue? Go to your quarters and take today's task."

"Hmm, We will have to register his name again in the list. Hey, what is your name." Tevesh Asked with an impatient look.

"....Mangrel."

Tevesh and the others moved away to the left.

Mangrel moved slowly while digging into his memories, there were yet many of the memories to be explored.

The memories of the past host of this body were blurred, making them indistinct to Mangrel. There are many holes even in the memory that he currently inherited.

Most of the memory of Mangrel's past was missing, with only his identity and mother's memory being the main focus.

'Sigh....It's most probably because this body was just a few steps away from death before I took over it. I will have to look around to reawaken some portion of the memory.'

'It's fortunate enough that I inherited the ability to speak in the native language.'

Feeling the memory he was looking for to be missing, Mangrel could only gaze around.

Finding a kid who was the same age as him, from the corner of his eyes, Mangrel's sight shifted to the place where the three people he met went.

Finding them to have left the area, Mangrel shifted in the kid's direction immediately with intentions to inquire about his quarters.

The floor below Mangrel was only sand and a tile floor appears as a person walks deeper into the site.

The kid who seemed to be looking for someone looked behind Hearing someone's footsteps.

Finding a familiar face the frown on the kid's face relaxed and then contorted.

"It's been more than three days, where have you been all this time?!" The kid, Devis asked with an annoyed face.

Hearing this, a sharp light passed by Mangrel's eyes. Looking at the face of the person before him — memories came pouring in like an unstoppable flood, giving a feeling of fullness to Mangrel.

Mangrel scratched the back of his head with a sorry look instantly: "Hahaha...Sorry about that, I was a little sick so I couldn't move around for a while."

Devis expression turned to that of worry: "Are you alright now? You had all of us worried that something might have happened to you!"

"I am good, I am good." Mangrel waved his hand frantically. Internally, digesting all the memory that surfaced a while ago, he had a rough idea of how things worked here.

The kids of Mangrel age gathered together forming into a group of their own.

In this environment, the people living in it grow very close to each other. They understand each other and can empathize with each other.

Hence, leading to their relationship being close — very close.

"Haha, Let's move to our quarters for now." Mangrel proposed with an easygoing air.

"Yeah, let's go, everyone will be happy knowing about your well-being." Devis smiled while taking the lead.

Mangrel followed behind him maintaining a smile: 'Good timing, I need to gather information on this place and about the world. Even if I don't get to know anything useful, just the memory that will awaken is more than enough.'

Though there are zero chances of them knowing anything about cultivators, there were many things to learn besides that.

Mangrel's eyes flickered with bright light, as he looked at the people working around him, 'The weaklings will always be oppressed, while the strong live in freedom and pleasure. That is the iron-clad rule of this world.'

Strength, that was everything in this world, where it was possible to accumulate power in our body, growing stronger continuously. Which the earth didn't have.

In this world, as long as a person has determination, they can do anything.

As the saying goes, a person with a firm mind and an undeterred determination can control their fate.

' Though I have not been able to attain my dream yet. I have still not lost, I have not given up, and I am still living and pursuing it once again!'

Ambition and expectation boiled within Mangrel's heart.

'The stars might be far away from me once again, but...I will reach it someday and Surpass it.

With no hesitation and with no uncertainty, I will walk on this path once again.

The world will always stay below my feet as long as I have the will to walk!'

Only he could let the world down, not the other way around.

Mangrel's life as a beggar at that instant — began.

Ridings the waves that might change any moment to tsunami, the beggar organization — What will the future hold in store for Mangrel?
