Joesh and some members of the Sela Clan stood in the middle of the training ground, while Xu Xitan and his followers stood on the opposite side.
"Blue, you seem energetic today," Xu Xitan said. She always appeared annoyed when he challenged her.
"I have my reasons," she replied, glancing at her followers. "Activate the barrier," she commanded.
Joesh looked at Xu Xitan and felt he was strong, but not as strong as Sela Blue.
"Hahaha," Xu Xitan laughed, and his followers stepped back, as did Joesh and his group. Only the two of them remained in the entire training ground.
Sela Blue made a sign with her right hand, and symbols and characters began to emanate from her body.
"That is called Sorcery Language. Mother Earth takes this language and makes nature give us what we want. Nature only understands Sorcery Language, and without it, we can't use any Sorcery Technique," a girl from the Sela Clan explained to Joesh.
"Oh," Joesh was fascinated by what he heard.
"I am only doing this because Clan Head asked me to, don't take me lightly," she said again, with a disgusted expression on her face.
"Huh?" Joesh raised his eyebrows in surprise. He was taken aback by her words. She spoke to him as if she hated him, but he had done nothing wrong. But he didn't care much about it.
"Fire," Sela Blue said, as symbols formed in front of her, creating fire. She used it as a weapon and began manipulating it to her liking.
Xu Xitan also made a sign with his right hand, but it was different, so different kinds of symbols appeared and formed—
"Ice"
Smoke emanated from his body, and his hands were covered in ice.
Joesh was surprised by what he saw. Even though he was surprised, he thought the water would be a better element to fight against fire.
"You might think that water is better, but no, ice is better," the girl beside Joesh said.
He looked at her and asked, "Why?"
"See for yourself," she replied, pointing towards Sela Blue and Xu Xitan.
Sela Blue made the first move, firing a flaming arrow at Xu Xitan, but a large ice wall formed in front of him, evaporating the fire arrow.
A barrage of fire arrows was aimed at him and ready to kill him, but the ice was strong enough to create a barrier around him, protecting him.
'Wait… I understand now,' Joesh said as he watched their fight. The fire was superior to ice in terms of raw destructive force, but it was not enough to melt ice. Ice may not have been as powerful as fire, but it was unmatched in defense against it.
Sela Blue made another sign. "Wind."
"Earth" just so, Xu Xitan made another sign, and walls formed around him, two feet thick. Even the strongest wind would not be able to break through those walls.
"Why are they fighting like this? I remember seeing Sela Blue-san use a sword," Joesh asked, feeling as if they were simply playing around. He had seen Sela Blue kill a monster with a single attack, and that monster was no weakling.
"Those are inherited Sorcery Techniques. They will eventually use them, but during warrior fights, they must first demonstrate their power of nature. A normal person can only learn two or three natural elements. But the Clan Head can control four. Xu Xitan can use three, and there is only one person who can use five elements," she explained to him as they watched the fight.
Joesh observed the fight, but as time passed, he began to feel a little bored. Sela Blue was attacked with fire, wind, and water, and Xu Xitan blocked everything with ice and earth. There were things he noticed: ice was not only a great defense against fire but also against water. Whenever water touched the ice, it turned into ice.
The two of them continued to exchange spells, each one trying to gain the upper hand. The air was filled with a cacophony of sound as spells collided.
'What about the close combat?' he thought. He was scared of fighting. Though he was scared of fighting, as a kid, his dad used to make him watch WWE and MMA, so he knew a thing or two about it.
As they summoned the elements of nature, the ground shook beneath them. The sky grew dark as they called upon the power of nature, and the earth split open as they invoked the power of Mother Earth.
The two warriors battled for what seemed like hours, with neither gaining a clear advantage over the other. But in the end, Sela Blue surprised Xu Xitan by making a new sign that wasn't her nature element.
"Blossom Sword," she declared, and a sword formed in front of her, it was not like her red sword, but in pink.
Joesh's attraction rose at the sight.
Xu Xitan responded with a smile and made the sign.
"Heaven Spear." A white spear formed in front of him as Sela Blue charged forward, swinging her sword in a wide arc.
But Xu Xitan was ready for her, expertly blocking the blow with his spear and countering with a thrust of lightning-speed of his own. Sela Blue dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the spear tip which was just an inch away from slicing her neck.
"You improved," she was impressed, she didn't expect it to be this fast.
"Of course I did," Xu Xitan replied with a confident smile, as he thrust his spear towards her chest.
"Wind" Sela Blue used the wind to move herself back, avoiding the spear thrust.
"Not going to happen," Xu Xitan didn't give up and dashed forward, not giving Sela Blue time.
"An opening," she swung her sword in a powerful arc that might kill him if he didn't dodge and kept moving forward.
Xu Xitan looked at the sword, and he was quick to react, but it was not enough. Sela Blue's sword mastery reached a very high level, her sword was both powerful and agile. Which knocked the spear away from Xu Xitan's hands.
Watching the fight, Joesh smiled, his heart pounding with excitement. Even though this was his first time seeing a battle like this, it gave him goosebumps, he felt something different…
'What is it like to battle… a single mistake can kill me…'
He couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to fight like that, where a single mistake could mean death. His body trembled with the thrill of the unknown…
