Chapitre 22: Come pick up your husband
Chen Xi was discharged in the afternoon but he kept refusing to leave until Lin Ye threatened that he would call the police on him.
Chen Xi did not have an identity in this world so calling the police would bring him trouble but to get her attention then it was not such a bad idea to involve the police.
Chen Xi laughed as a sudden bright idea came into his mind.
Kin Ye walked out of the hospital late at night. Her phone started ringing suddenly and she looked at the unknown number with confusion.
She did not know who would call her at such a late hour. She picked it up anyway and was surprised to find that it was the police.
"Hello miss Lin, please come to the Capital police station right now"
Lin Ye looked at the time, it was a quarter to twelve already, why did the police want her at this time?
She asked carefully, "Sir...have I done something wrong?"
The police officer laughed, "It is not something like that. We found some random drunk person on the streets and we checked his phone records, you were the last person he called."
The officer explained calmly.
Lin Ye was astonished.
A man? Who could that be?
She did not have many friends much less those that were male and apart from Doctor Chu who had called her today then she could not think of anyone else.
Doctor Chu did not drink and it would be impossible that she was the last person he had contacted.
She wanted to refuse but then the officer spoke once more, "He claims that he his your husband."
Lin Ye coughed, "My...my...husband?"
What husband? She did not have a husband alright?
She spoke up, 'Mr police officer, I have not been married yet so I think this is a mistake!"
The officer spoke up once more, "Your contact is the only one saved on the phone and the name saved there is wife. Miss Lin do you think we are stupid?"
Lin Ye shook her head even though the officer could not see her, "No officer, that is not what I meant."
The police officer spoke up angrily, "Miss Lin then are you denying your husband? He has been calling your name ever since he came here. Don't waste any of my time anymore. Please hurry and come pick up your husband!"
In the background, she could hear some voice going, 'where is my wifey?'
With that the line was abruptly cut off!
Lin Ye almost screamed in the middle of the streets.
What sort of witchcraft was this?
That voice was clearly that jerk Chen Xi's. Did he want her to die?
She called a taxi and headed towards the police station with a burning heart.
Back at the police station, the officer slammed the phone on the desk and turned to the man on the side, "Did I do well just now?"
Chen Xi smiled and asked in expectation, "Did she say she will come?"
The officer smiled, "Even though she did not say it, she will surely come. Trust me.'
Chen Xi and the officer then proceeded to drink coffee and chat.
Feng An who was standing at the side fixed his glasses, speechless.
Who was this?
He really marvelled at Chen Xi's duality.
This plan looked stupid but he did not believe that it could actually work!
Chen Xi had approached the police station himself at night. He explained to the officer that he did not have a place to stay since his wife had kicked him out.
He looked so pitiful when he asked the officer to call his wife to come pick him up that even the cold hearted Feng An felt sorry for him!
The plan was stupid but he was still surprised to see Lin Ye running towards the station.
She was dressed in simple jeans and some converse. She also put on a trench coat probably because the weather at night was slightly cold.
He could tell she was furious so he hid himself in the darkness and got lost into it.
Lin Ye walked through the station doors and went up to Chen Xi.
She wanted to slap him but the jerk was sleeping soundly on the side, clearly drunk.
She threatened in a dark tone, "Wake up or else i am going to kill you!"
