Chapitre 27: Chapter 27: Bedridden

Colette sat beside Nora as she slept in the hospital bed, willing herself not to cry. She had already sobbed her eyes out in the ambulance, so what good would it do to weep while Nora slept?

She ran her hand over the brunette’s thumb over and over again as the hustle and bustle behind her triggered a memory of Fleur doing the same to her, as she lay with the IV drips and the beeping heart monitor attached to her body.

Her body began to tremble with the weight of the memory and her hands became clammy and sweaty.

Her trembling hands woke Nora from her slumber and the brunette turned her head to look at Colette, who was sitting stock still in her seat.

Nora didn’t know what to say to wake her out of her memories, so instead she squeezed her palm very hard. Colette jolted, looking down at Nora’s face and shaking her head back and forth to snap herself back to reality.

“Nora! Are you … how are you holding up?”

“I feel … like shit, Colette.”
