"What did you do?!" I asked as my fingers dug into her shoulder.
Funny how a sense of urgency was all I needed to get my voice to stop shaking. And no, I wasn't hurting Liara with my claws because I did have the foresight to retract them before I went hysterical on her.
"What I had to!" my betrothed snapped.
Liara's crimson eyes flared in that intimidating way only bloodsuckers could achieve—and I shit you not, but I stepped back from that glare. For the first time ever, the werewolf in me saw Liara as an enemy to be wary of.
"I did what I had to do to help you," she said in a softer tone.
What I assumed she did to help me was siphon off some of the vampire lord's blood from Carmina to help the master vampire absorb the power of her predecessor kind of like how Liara had sipped on my blood to help me better absorb Vlad's phantom.
"Tell me you didn't," I said.
Working on extra chapters thanks to the recent gift donations. Look forward to it this week!
