Chapitre 38: Cut into pieces

Kevin and Peter walked briskly but not too rapidly back to the corner where the car was parked. It was still there, and still unlocked. The only difference was that the bags of money were no longer in the backseat. More importantly, Francine wasn't there either.

"Fuck this shit, man."

Seeing this Kevin almost exploded with anger.

"The trunk?"

Peter guessed as he thought of something.

He hurriedly opened the glove box, triggered the trunk release. He went around and lifted the lid. However, there was nothing in the trunk but the spare tire and the jack. Peter had just dejectedly closed the trunk lid when the pay phone rang a dozen yards away.

Kevin heard this like a ray of hope and hurriedly ran to it as he grabbed the receiver. 

"Go home, she'll probably get there before you do."

The kidnapper said.
