The Epics were like actual power bars that determined the strengths one would have against their opponents and by opponents, I do not mean just the ones that one would face during a fight.

The Worldline and the system itself, a higher being's powers also depended on the influence their epics had on the world and beyond.

'The main Storyline was like the physical body of a higher being, Epics were like their organs, and if they had any, while the Myths were like their superpowers that a physical body could use.'

That was the simplest way to describe the powers of the higher beings. But the main storylines still came before anything else. And, as long as the being existed, that main storyline would continue forever.

The things they would become either (External storylines), (Epics), (Myths), or (Lores) depending on the characteristics of the stories.

Epics, especially, are a very important part of the storylines.
