The bus came and as expected, gazes were fixated on her all through the journey back to the high house.

The respect accorded to her, the admiration stares, the flickering of smartphone cameras, it was all endless. Also, it caused Afina to feel some uneasiness.

Those were the fairly tolerant parts of the journey. She began to hate the popularity she possessed now when divine persons on the bus — mostly girls, started whispering stuff related to what she saw on the news.

Not that Afina cared anyway.

She had her parents and neighbors on the street trust in her, so it didn't matter if some stranger whispers banter around her— about her too.

Instead, she projected her attention into wondering about how many activities she had missed in the high house.

Even if she got Butler Baelfire's permission, she couldn't help but to fret. What if he couldn't hold up with getting her out of trouble?
