Predictably, the phoenix rolled her eyes at me, as was her prerogative based on her tone. And speaking of tone, hearing this bird constantly making bird noises and still somehow parsing words through them was kind of cool, I guess. I would've liked to hear actual words, but I guess that was just my mind having some kind of quirk that made this phoenix act like some kind of diva.

"You are one and don't even try to deny it," I quickly shot back. "On top of you looking down on me and acting all high and mighty, you pass all the checks to being a grade-A diva."

To my surprise, the phoenix actually recoiled at my words. This was... This was surreal.
