Chapitre 46: Chapter 45 - Names

"Izuku-kun! What did you say to Aizawa sensei? He looks mad!" Ochaco ran over to Izuku as he returned from the pitch circle. One moment they were excited about freely using their quirk and now they were on the verge of being expelled.

Izuku shrugged as he also didn't understand why it had developed this way. If Aizawa's goal was to test him then he wouldn't add a rule that didn't affect him.

Izuku had some ideas of why Aizawa did this but after remembering that he's the kind of teacher to roll to class in a sleeping bag, he's not quite sure anymore.

'It should be fine right,'

Izuku showed a wry smile to the parts of the class who thought it was his fault and glared at him.

"Plus Ultra, am I right??"

'PLUS ULTRA MY ASS!'

Izuku went first for every category and tried to not overdo the results. Theoretically, he could place first for every single one but didn't bother doing so since there was no reason to.

If there was anything Izuku wanted to test was how close he was to Pain's achievement of flattening a whole village. Unfortunately, there was nowhere remote enough he could test that on unless U.A. would be willing to let him try it on the entrance exam venue.

"How did you do Ochaco?" Izuku went over to the girl's side since a fuming Bakugou was on the other side. He took a few water bottles with his quirk and handed one to Ochaco while opening his own.

"I'm beat!" Ochaco exhaled and drank a full bottle before realizing her somewhat inappropriate conduct and blushed, "Hehe, thanks Izuku-kun,"

From beside him, Izuku let the pink alien-looking girl unceremoniously grab a bottle for herself before patting Izuku on the back, "Thanks Midoriya-kun!"

"No worries, Mina-san," Izuku replied. He had briefly introduced himself to everyone before and remembered their names. Most of their names coincide with their characteristics so it was easy to memorize.

Izuku noticed Mina's pink skin had a slight red hue as he said this, but he didn't bother. He didn't consider his current appearance to be good enough to be narcissistic about it.

After handing the rest of the bottles to the rest, Izuku noticed the frog-like girl, Tsuyu Asui staring at him with her comically vacant round eyes. After periodically seeing her tipping her finger at the end of her mouth, Izuku wonders if frogs also do this naturally.

"Anything I can help with, Tsuyu-san?"

"Midoriya-chan, why are you using our first name, ribbit?" she asked. Her tone didn't come across as annoyed or the like, rather it was full of curiosity.

Izuku mentally slapped his head at her words. He also wanted to contemplate how a girl can casually add "ribbit" at the end of the sentence but that can wait.

Over the year, the only people he had interacted with were Inko, Mitsuki, Toga, and to some extent, Bakugou. In summary, he had been living in his own world and forgot about Japan's naming culture.

Mina's blush made more sense now to Izuku. Although he couldn't understand why a simple name-call warranted it, he wouldn't try to argue with a deep-rooted culture.

Izuku let out a dry laugh and said, "Aha, I'm sorry, it's a habit from my middle school since everyone around me is usually boys,"

"Mnn, I don't mind you calling me Tsuyu, Midoriya-chan," Tyusu said before pointing to the floating gym cloth, Toru Hagakure, "But I think she does,"

Izuku didn't know how Tsuyu could see the invisible girl blushing but he credited it to a frog's intuition or something and apologized to the everyone. However, most of them didn't mind after hearing his reasoning and allowed Izuku to call them as before.

Meanwhile, Ochaco stood there with a blank look before blushing furiously after remembering that for the entire time they knew each other, they had been using each other's first name. Izuku saw her unusually red face and asked;

"Are you bothered with me using your first name, Uraraka-san?"

Ochaco didn't know why, but she was disappointed when she heard Izuku use her family name, even if she hadn't noticed until now. She thought that if she didn't say it now, she wouldn't be able to change her mind later.

"N...no, I'm fine with before, Izuku-kun," Ochaco said as she twiddled her fingers behind her back.

"I'm glad I haven't been bothering you then, Ochaco," Izuku said warmly, looking at the now nervous Ochaco. When she saw his usual smile, she shook her head, trying to return things to normal. Despite this, everyone still noticed a small tint of red persisting on her puffy cheeks.

"You two sure are close, Izuku-kun. Are you two da—" Mina showed everyone a wide grin and wanted to pry for more information before being stopped by Ochaco. Izuku decided to ignore her the latter part of her sentence.

"We're going to be classmates for three years after all, we should all be somewhat close," Izuku said before continuing and showing a sorry smile, "Though I'm sorry for causing trouble on the first day,"

"That right, Izuku-kun! what if you get someone expelled?" Mina somehow escaped from Ochaco's grip and said playfully, puffing out her cheeks as if he had made a criminal mistake.

"I don't think it'll happen…maybe,"

"What do you mean? Ribbit-," Tsuyu asked. Izuku wanted to answer but a girl with a spiky ponytail, Momo Yaoyorozu, answered first.

"It's not logical to expel someone just based on their comparative physical capabilities." She said before continuing, "Or else, someone like Hagakure-san, whose quirk has few combative usages wouldn't be accepted in the first place. U.A. values many other things than combat, after all. It's most likely to only be a trick for us to go all out,"

Everyone agreed that Momo's explanation was logical. Their minds became so preoccupied with the idea of being expelled that they failed to notice that the logic of such expulsion was flawed.

"That's what I thought as well, but you forgot one thing, Momo-san,"

"Oh?" She murmured a slight surprise, "And what's that, Izuku-kun?"

"That our teacher is…"
