Chapitre 25: Chapter Twenty Five
I picked her up from the front of a hospital" he said and
Richard got up and he was the first to get out of the station,
Albert followed with the others and cops. Albert drove to the building in seconds and Richard ran in.
"Ruby, Ruby" He kept calling and made to enter the elevator
"Richard" Albert called, looking at the base of the stairs as the cops entered with Julius and Janet
At the base of the stairs, there were droplets of bloods which he was certain that it was Ruby's blood, then Richards' eyes widened as he started climbing the stairs.
The drops of blood continued as he climbed already crying
"Did someone kill you here and dispose your corpse?, No, no it can't be, no please" Richard screamed and kept climbing not feeling as if he was climbing anything.
He just kept climbing and Albert kept following him behind for over fourthy minutes till they got to somewhere close to the top of the stairs where there was massive bloodstain and the uncompleted stair rods has blood too.
Richard sat on the stair and more tears came out of his eyes uncontrollably.
"No, no it can't be, where's Ruby, where's she, she can't be dead!, Please" Richard screamed with red eyes as Albert stood watching him.
Seeing him cry right now pains him but what can he do? his heart will probably be bleeding right now
"But this building belongs to our dad but why will such a thing happen in this building?
Madam Sylvia really planned it well" Richard said fighting back his tears.
Later in the night, a girl could be seen entering a building with a female doctor and they seem to be in a rush. They rushed in and met the unconscious patient on the bed, badly injured with
her arms full of injury like something pierced through them.
Her face has few wounds and her lips was bruised as well. Her stomach was wounded and there were slight injury in all parts of her body too making her clothes full off blood
"Hospital would have been better than home treatment in this kind of situation" the doctor said.
"Look doctor, we're from this city too but where we came from is just too far, I saved her from the hands of enemies so taking her to the hospital will only expose her and they might come there to kill her, so please doctor you came with the necessary equipment right? Please save her, I can't lose her after all my stress" the girl said.
The doctor sighed as an intern brought in some equipments and
a test was quickly performed and from there it was detected that she was two months pregnant.
"Thankfully, the injury on her belly did not affect the baby" the doctor said and started treatment.
She undressed her and swabbed her body with special treatments then injected her with pain relievers so she won't feel pains unconsciously before plastering the wounds and specially treated the one on her belly.
Her face was treated too and she dressed her up again
"But we have a problem" the doctor said
"What is it?"
"The test I ran showed that she's still in a state of shock even in her unconscious state, meaning she was in a state of shock too when this happened to her so she might not wake up anytime soon" the doctor said.
"Is that what they call coma, but she's pregnant how will the baby grow?" The girl asked.
"The baby will grow as long as she's still breathing. You just need to be doing your best and feed her with oats in her state of coma.
Just know how to get it into her mouth and it'll go down her throat she'll survive it and it won't be for long anyways" the doctor said.
"But please don't inform anyone about this please. Her life will be in danger if her enemies knows she's still alive.
But can you please come here to treat her everyday untill she's fine?, Your fee is not a problem, and please what's your name?" The girl asked while the doctor sighed
"So many questions and requests. Ok done I'll always come and I won't tell anyone.
I'm doctor Faith what about you?" she replied
"My name is Vina, and your patient's name is Ruby" Vina replied.
"Where did you save her from?" Dr Faith asked
"You know my homelessness saved her, I was homeless and I sleep in an uncompleted building every night and when the day breaks, I go into the streets to magnet " she said
"Magnet?"
"You won't understand so like I was saying, this morning I woke up to a bad morning, I felt weak and I'm the type who hates getting sick.
So I decided to exercise and get rid of the tiredness by climbing the one thousand Rockview stairs.
I was almost at the top, maybe like fifty stairs left to climb when I started hearing sounds, I layed low and listened, then shortly I heard the sound of an elevator door opening upstairs, maybe that was when Ruby entered.
The wicked woman was the one who killed her parents and the reason that her son loves her, she pushed her off the stairs and she began to roll down.
The woman left with the hope that she'll die, but luckily I caught her in the fiftieth stair, wounded seriously" Vina replied
"Fiftieth stair and she's injured like this, what if she has rolled to the base of the one thousand stairs, she'd have split to pieces" doctor Faith said.
" Life is so cruel that's why I hired a driver who's my friend and he took us as far as this place, I'll protect her with my life, I just feel like doing that" Vina said
" You have a good heart" doctor Faith said
"I know" Vina replied and the doctor hugged her
Richard stayed at Rockview till night with Albert, Julius and Janet who was crying profusely, saying her damn dream came to pass.
Julius consoled her while Albert tried consoling Richard untill a cop entered the building.
"The search is still going on, Mr Albert please try persuading him to go home because crying won't solve anything" the cop said but Richard suddenly spranged up and walked out of the building, passing by the cop, he grabbed his gun and ran out of the place
"My gun!" The cop shouted as Richard got in his car and drove off but they followed him immediately.
Richard got to Madam Sylvia's house and got down from the car, cocking the gun as he went in
Madam Sylvia was busy drinking and smoking in her living room when Richard barged in.
She stood in horror when Richard pointed the gun at her with tears in his eyes
"Where's Ruby" He yelled..
Madam Sylvia really planned it well" he thought, fighting back his tears.
"Where's Ruby!" Richard demanded at the top of his voice once again.
"Have you gone nuts, how the hell will I know where she is, I don't know so get that thing off my face"
Madam Sylvia said fearfully
"You must think that I'm joking" Richard said and pulled the trigger but luckily for Madam Sylvia she doged quickly and the bullet hit the wall instead but he shot again and it hit the couch
"Richard get back to your senses. What has this girl done to you" Madam Sylvia said ducking behind the couch.
"You want to know right? Now listen It's love that she gave to me so bring her out wherever you might have kept her Sylvia" He yelled and made to shoot again but Albert entered and held him from behind
"Leave me alone" Richard yelled in tears.
"No, you can't stain your hands with her blood. Trust me we'll find Ruby so just keep calm Please" Albert said, holding him tight
"I want to see her now or didn't you hear when the doctor said she's pregnant? I must make sure she takes her medication daily, I need to make sure she isn't overworking, I need to make sure she's not skipping meals, I need to make sure she's sleeping well and I need to make sure she's perfectly ok but Albert, if this woman won't give me Ruby, then just let me kill her because her existence is meaningless" Richard said.
"Richard please, just let go of this gun. If you kill her and go to jail then Ruby comes back, how will you watch over her from jail? Think twice bro and just let go of this gun I beg you" Albert persuaded again and again and slowly, Richard let go of the gun and Albert handed it to the cop
"Sorry about this, he's not in his right senses and I hope you understand" Albert said pleadingly and the cop nodded.
"I understand, just watch over him, I'm sure Ruby will be found" the cop replied before leaving.
As Julius led Richard out of the house with Janet
Albert faced Madam Sylvia Immediately she came out from the back of the couch
"I promise you, I'll get you and your advocate, I mean Valerie.
You might be hard to tackle but she's feeble than you think, so get ready to be exposed soon" he said assuredly before leaving.
A week later Vina served the oats in a plate and waited for a while for it to cool before feeding the unconscious Ruby with it.
Doctor Faith left a while ago and she was kind enough to come everyday as promised and she told Vina not to pay.
"At least there are still good people" Vina said as she shoved the spoon gently into Ruby's mouth and poured the oat which went down her throat
"I hope you wake up soon, the doctor said your baby is growing well, and I hope you still remember me when you wake up, it's been a year since you saw me" Vina said cleaning Ruby's lips after feeding her.
She got a bowl of warm sterile water and a towel hence it'll be hard to bathe her unconsciously, she swabbed her body with a wet towel everyday
"By the way we're running out of cash" Vina complained sadly.
Ever since Ruby's disappearance, Richard refused stepping Crown into the company. He stays at home and all he does was crying all day. Albert and Julius have tried consoling him a lot but it wasn't working and his migraine came back in folds, making it an everyday experience now which is always splitting, making him crave more for Ruby's presence.
Valerie has been restless as a part of her was happy because, Ruby's now gone so it'll be easy to plan a way to seduce Richard now that she's not here
But another part of her ws sad because Richard hasn't been coming to work and she can't possibly go to his house when Albert or Julius and Janet are always with him.
It seems to her like killing Ruby only made things harder, and to her, Madam Sylvia is a pure devil, who'll soon take the lead from the devil with the look of things.
She's scared of her already but if Albert should come with his own problems, she'll be in trouble because Albert can be dangerous too when it comes to finding answers.
"Valerie" Madam Sylvia called when she noticed how down she was
"Mum" she replied
"Why the sad face?" She asked
"Mum I'm scared, what if Albert forces words out of my mouth just like last time?" She said
"He won't, trust me and trust your mother in-law" Madam Sylvia replied
"What mother inlaw, It's not even working and you just won't get it ' she yelled and ran upstairs
Madam Sylvia smoked and drank as usual in her living room, thinking about what Albert said
"He might force words out of Valerie's mouth, Really?" Madam Sylvia thought
"What to do? "She asked herself
"If Valerie should say a word, then it's finished" she thought again
"Wouldn't it sound too diabolical to kill a friend's daughter? Well that seems to be the only solution for me not to get caught. But Ruby's body that was not found is making me feel somehow, is she not dead? " Madam Sylvia thought.
Richard sat beside the window in his room, holding unto the teddy he got for Ruby on Valentine's day. He got it for her so she'll stare at it whenever she misses him but it has become the other way round right now.
He kissed the bear and smiled sadly.
"Baby where are you, I miss you a lot, just let me see you please" he said, crying and his tears fell on the teddy which he quickly wiped it
"Ruby please come back to me, I love you so much" he said, shedding more tears but the sound of Albert knocking at the door jilted him back alive
"Richard you're crying again" he said
"Albert just leave me alone" he replied
"Bro crying is not the best" Julius said but Richard kept mute and continued crying then Albert looked at Julius.
"Stay here with him please, I need to go somewhere" Albert said, going out of the house and he drove straight to Valerie's house and he met her just outside the house.
"Albert" she called shakily, standing on her tracks
"One move and you're dead" Albert said, moving closer to her and she stood fearfully, not moving an inch
"You know what Madam Sylvia did right? or probably you did it together" he said standing in front of her.
"No I don't" Valerie replied stammering
"Stop stammering and talk before I snap life out of your lungs" He yelled
"She and... and I.." But Albert didn't allow her finish what she was saying before grabbing her by the neck just like last time and pinned her to a car
"Talk" He ordered tightening his grip on her neck and tears voluntarily came out of her eyes like she was going to die in the next minute
"I'll... I'll .. I'll tell you everything" she said stammering then he let her go while she began to cough
"What the hell do you think you're doing Albert!" Madam Hilda interrupted coming out of the house and Albert shot her a deadly glare while Valerie was still coughing and her mother helped her up.
"How could you be so wicked to the point of doing this to my daughter" Hilda said feigning anger but
Albert kept mute because if he decides to talk, then his hands will move faster than his mouth and he might end up killing the both of them.
"Maybe another day" Albert said and got into his car and drove off
Madam Sylvia was having dinner when Hilda's call came on her phone and she picked
"Hey friend" Sylvia greeted......
