We both lay on the bed, I backed Alex staring blankly at the golden lamp on my bedside table, I'm sure Alex is awake too or maybe already asleep from the stress of the day. It's the first time he gets to attend an event till it's over even if he barely revealed his presence to everyone.
My babies were growing quickly, having them around is the best experience I've had in my life. The room was dead silent as Alex barely said a word to me. It didn't take long for me to be buried in my thoughts, recollecting the events of the day. It was a wonderful day and for the first time in my life, our party was not ruined by unwanted family drama.
Thinking back to what Maya said earlier, I wondered why Beverly still wanted her revenge on us, when we clearly did nothing to her. It's not surprising she's not changed, but it's scary to know that she's after us again, especially now she's not sane. She could be dangerous for us, though Alex has told me not to worry, I was still scared.
"Are you asleep Alex? You said you had something to tell me later." I turned around to meet the gaze of the man who looked fast asleep. I couldn't keep my gaze away from him, it's always good doing most things to keep your mind away from the problems that weigh it down. I caressed his cheek with my thumb.
Here I thought we were finally free from worry, here I thought my kids could live normal lives like every other kid, but it turns out one must always have enemies lurking around, looking for the slightest chance to destroy. I've met so many dangers since I met this man laid beside me.
Slowly, two pairs of black eyes met my gaze, "You're not sleeping? Why?" He sat up, "I can't sleep." "If it's the cause of what I said earlier, don't worry about it I won't kill him. There's nothing a little talk cannot solve." He assured pulling me closer to embrace me to himself stroking my hair tenderly. "It's funny how your uncle Kendrick stares at me strangely, it's like he has a lot to say, but just wouldn't."
"You should stay away from him Hazel, he's a foe." "Why? You always ask me to stay away from people but never give me a reason." I could feel his lips press on my head. "I shouldn't hide things away from you, you're my wife the closest person to me and one I can trust." He started, already confusing me with his words.
*************
It was either now or never, his greatest fear was right before him. His darkest side was at the tip of his tongue, he was going to tell her everything she needs to know about him. Who he truly is, what he is. She should find out from its source than from someone else.
She barely knew a thing about him, "What are you talking about?" Is it time to tell her? Should he tell her or just live everything in the dark? Hazel's a smart woman and she knows not to go close to Kendrick, if she stays away from him then he'd have no chance to tell her a thing.
"When my parents died, uncle Kendrick was at the hospital to see me, it was all normal till he mocked my dead parents and sister. He gave me trauma and sleepless nights, reminding me each day of the pain I went through that day." He paused.
"It wasn't funny, I thought it was normal to be reminded about how I killed them every day." "About how you killed them?" "All Kendrick wanted was to take over my inheritance, that's the main reason he tried to break me with mere words." He added. I could tell he ignored my question, I only wanted to believe I wasn't imagining things.
A child of five can't kill or harm his family, he can't possibly do that, what I'm I thinking. Alex is one man that Values family more than anything.
.
"What are you doing here?" A blonde-haired lady to the other brunette lady who just stepped in. "Oh, you seem much better than a few days back, it's a miracle." Chan sat on the couch next to Beverly. It was so fortunate that she found her on her way back from Wilson's mansion. She knew if she hadn't found her that day, Beverly would have been dead by now.
"Did you get the pictures of the little Wilson's youngsters?" Beverly smiled. "I knew you'd get better quickly, Doctor Phil never fails, I'm I right Phils?" Chan smiled at the doctor who looked so terrified, she knew Alexander's doctor would be the best to work on Beverly.
Alex is not the type who works with dummies, he's workers are always the best in the world. "Y... Yes ma'am." Phil responded with a bow, he really doesn't know what to say to Alex when he's asked about his whereabouts. He's taken oaths not to reveal a thing about both women. "That stupid Hazel, she's getting more troublesome than she used to be. She asked me not to take pictures of her kids and sent my men away." "WHAT?" Beverly threw her glass of wine on the floor.
She got furious immediately, "Forget about Hazel, for now, I need to teach my sister a lesson first." Beverly suddenly turned calm like she was never upset some seconds ago. "No, we need to face Hazel first, she needs to be eliminated from Alex's life." Chan protested almost immediately. All she's asked is just a little time with her cousin which she never got.
Their little brother and sister's love while they were kids had been nurtured and has grown into something else. An unquenchable feeling that always takes control of her thinking each time she sees Alex. She's always been envious of Beverly and it annoyed her that she could not harm her cause it turns out Beverly's as evil as she is.
"You don't have any right to stop me," Beverly said furiously. She has little idea of what Chan has planned for her, at the end of the day she's just a weapon, she's always been a weapon.
