Chapitre 16: Chapter 15 A Good Haul and Buying a Cauldron
Liang Chen and Ling Fei entered the cave entrance. It was dark, and they couldn't see anything. They used spirit sense, so there is no problem making out of the surroundings. But soon, they noticed a faint glow coming from a corner. As they moved closer to investigate, they realized that they had walked into a spirit herb garden. The place was full of rare and valuable spirit herbs that glowed in the dark, lighting up the whole area.
Liang Chen and Ling Fei were amazed by what they saw. The place was like a treasure trove of spirit herbs. The herbs were of all kinds, and some of them were even unknown to them. Liang Chen knew that this discovery would be life-changing for both of them. Liang Chen suddenly thought. If this place was protected by an array formation, and the growing herbs were arranged in rows like a garden, then this is someone else's spiritual herb garden. He sought advice from the Universal Guide. After checking for a while with Liang Chen, both of them concluded that no one has touched these things for thousands of years. Liang Chen made a discussion with Ling Fei and both decided that it is okay to take some.
Excited by the prospect of finding some valuable herbs, they started collecting them and even found a row of Swiftsilver Flowers. They picked only the ripe ones and left the rest to grow. The more they explored the garden, the more they found. It was as if the garden was endless, and the herbs were in abundance. Liang Chen and Ling Fei were ecstatic, and they continued to collect herbs throughout the night. They decided to rest for a while before leaving the place. Liang Chen pulled out the map that he got from the Liu family hoodlums. He noticed that the mark on the map indicates the place just beside the waterfall. He and the Universal Guide concluded that it is the map to reach the spirit herb garden.
As they sat down to rest, they talked about their future plans. They both agreed that this discovery would be a turning point in their lives. They planned to take the herbs back to their respective sects and sell them for a good price. They also talked about how they could use the money to buy pills and improve their cultivation.
Liang Chen thought that would it be cheaper and more productive if he could make the pills himself. "It would. If you are willing to learn alchemy as well, I would do my best to guide you and become a pill master. We can start once you have your own alchemy cauldron." The Universal Guide said. Liang Chen decided to buy an alchemy cauldron in a nearby town.
Liang Chen felt grateful for meeting Ling Fei, and he knew that they would make a great team. They both shared the same goals and aspirations, and he felt confident that they could achieve great things together. As they rested, they felt the energy of the spirit herbs surrounding them. They could feel their cultivation improving just by being in the garden. Liang Chen knew that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and he was determined to make the most of it.
After a day of rest and cultivation, Liang Chen reactivated the concealment array formation. He and Ling Fei hugged the wall and climbed the vines. It was a weird sight. Once their faces are outside the concealment array, they could see half of their body is inside the wall. The wall was like an illusion. This single array is like a mixture of an illusion and stealth array formation but it also affects your sight from the outside.
"This is a combined array formation." The Universal Guide informed Liang Chen. "Unlike a basic formation, it has multiple structures and formulas hence the array performs many things."
As the way the Universal Guide explained, It is like a program. Basic array formations only have a single action to do things. Like attack or defend. While a combined array can do multiple things. It is like a robot, that can only walk then you can also add some formulas to let it run and jump.
Once they have climbed up, Liang Chen told Ling Fei to wait. He started gathering stones of different sizes, making inscriptions on them and placing them close to the waterfall's edge.
When Ling Fei realized what he was doing, she was dumbfounded. She blurted out. "Are you making an array formation using STONES?!" This made her understanding of array formations upside down. Though Liang Chen hasn't finished yet, she cannot believe it would work. Array formations need formation flags, this is common knowledge in this world.
Liang Chen stopped and looked at her with an awkward smile and explained. "Have you heard or seen about natural formations? I'm just trying to simulate the same thing."
Ling Fei thought about it and said. "I have been training on array formations since I was accepted into the sect. My master has never mentioned anything about a natural formation."
Liang Chen thought for a while. It seems that the cultivation technology in this world is not so very high. If this is the case, then having the universal Guide is too overpowered, right? With the help of the Universal Guide, he made a decagon array formation and tried using a combined array. He used the formulas for the concealment and monitoring array formations. Though it is only a level 1 combined array formation, he now has an invisible camera in this place. When Ling Fei saw that it worked, she have no comment. She felt that if anyone can use stones as array flags then everyone can do it. Before they part ways, Liang Chen gave a stone with inscriptions on it to Ling Fei for her to study and she kept reminding him to visit her sect.
As Liang Chen bid farewell to Ling Fei, he set off toward a nearby town to purchase an alchemy cauldron. He had been planning to refine some pills to enhance his cultivation, and he knew that a good alchemy cauldron was a necessary tool to have. After several hours of traveling, he finally arrived at the town named Clearwater Town. It was bustling with activity, with vendors shouting out their wares and people milling about in every direction.
After asking a couple of people, Liang Chen made his way toward a renowned alchemy store, called Dragon's Alchemy Emporium, where he hoped to find the best cauldron. This alchemy store is not only just a store but also an academy. They accept disciples for them to study the dao of alchemy. Upon entering the store, he was greeted by a kind-looking old man who asked him what he needed. Liang Chen explained that he was looking for an alchemy cauldron and the old man led him to a section of the store dedicated to such equipment. There were many different types and sizes of cauldrons available, each with its own unique features and specialties.
When Liang Chen saw the price of the cheapest normal low-grade mortal cauldron was at a whopping 100 gold coins, he was dumbfounded. That is almost equivalent to 50,000 USD. He knows that alchemy is expensive at the start but he never imagined it would be this expensive. The mid-grade one is 150 gold coins. These are the normal ones so the unique cauldrons would be more expensive. Liang Chen groaned a little and bought the mid-grade mortal cauldron. He will use this to practice till he reaches level 3 Pill Master and then move on to an earth-grade cauldron or better.
Now equipped with an alchemy cauldron, Liang Chen was eager to begin refining pills to enhance his cultivation. He plans to return to the sect and train in seclusion.
