Deep

Floating mid-air, Leena looks down into the abyss as they fall, her face calm. Her short crimson hair begins to grow longer and longer until it extends below her waist. One of her eyes starts changing, the iris and pupil blending and moving until a crimson red blooming flower with a dark center can be seen, its beauty mesmerizing. Black lines start to appear from her lower eyelid, extending down her waist, stark and ominous against her pale skin.

"You all brought this upon yourselves," she calmly extends her hand out to the abyss, her nails sharp and a mixture of black and red. "You should've never entered the dungeon..." she mumbles in a toneless voice, lowering her hand.

Footsteps approach, the bones creak and crack as it walks on the ground that's slowly rebuilding itself. A skeleton, but not a normal one—it's small, only a couple of feet in height. Leena looks at it, her expression devoid of coldness, as it always has been. Stepping on the ground, the skeleton jumps around, pulling on her crimson-black robe. Taking a couple of steps forward, she stops and looks back as the hole where the abyss was, slowly closes itself.

"Please... die," she mumbles before walking again into the darkness, 'V...'

'How dare she, does she think I'm some joke? Does she think a couple of restrictions will affect me? Me?' Cora grits her teeth, her hand vibrating as she fights her immobility. Ripples of mana shoot out of her, shattering any debris falling near her into dust. "Bein! What the hell are you doing!?" she grunts, waving her hand to break free from her unknown restraints and flipping her body over.

"I'm trying!" Bein grunts out, unable to move. 'Shit, I can't break free, or I'll cause an explosion.'

"Hmhmhmhmhm, what happened kid? Can't move?" the prince scoffs, falling next to Kael. "Come on~ I'll help you if you just move a muscle, just a single muscle~" he grins mischievously.

"Oi, you wanna die?" Yula mumbles with a cold tone. The prince turns to her only to freeze instantly into a block of ice. "Don't worry, V, I'll help you," she says in an affectionate, worried tone. 'I can move, but the mana here is chaotic. Moving mid-air is impossible. Dammit, what do I do? This poor baby boy will die at this rate,' she bites her nails.

"Don't worry, I got him, Yula," Itto mumbles, looking downwards. His feet crackle with lightning, and he pushes himself down, closer to Kael. "Oi, kid, can you move now?" he asks, sending lightning through Kael's body.

"Oi, Itto, looks like you want to die," Yula mumbles coldly. "How dare you hurt that poor boy," she extends her hand outward, glaring deep into his soul. "You're a disappointment, just like that worthless prince."

"No, I'm okay. He saved me," Kael gasps. 'Did Leena try killing me? I couldn't breathe whatsoever; she completely turned off my lungs.' He looks down. 'I can see everything clear as day, but every time I try looking deeper, my head feels like it'll explode.'

Yula's face suddenly changes into a warm smile. "Itto, if he gets hurt, I will break every bone in your body seven times. I will then heal and break your bones again. Do you understand?" she asks warmly.

"U-um, yes," Itto shivers. 'I can't beat her; she's a monster.'

[Level 66]

"Ugh... what the hell happened?" Kael mumbles, rubbing his head as he stands up. The ground is cold and damp. 'Where am I? Wait...' He hisses, rubbing his head. 'That's right, a bunch of rifts appeared and everyone got split up.'

"Oh? You're finally awake," Itto mumbles with a stretch. 'It doesn't look like he suffered any injuries.'

"Took you long enough, lazy piece of shit," the prince mumbles, leaning on a wall.

The place is a narrow cave that can nearly fit all three of them side by side. The only source of light is the golden glowing flowers growing on the walls. The flowers are a vibrant gold, with petals that seem to pulse gently with an inner light, illuminating the cave with a warm, ethereal glow. Their stems are thin and black, twisting up the walls like veins of some ancient being, and the scent they emit is a sweet, calming fragrance, almost like honey mixed with jasmine.

'Something's off,' Kael thinks, scratching his head while ignoring the prince.

"You feel weaker, right? Check your status; this place has me fucked up," Itto mumbles, annoyed. 'Seriously, dungeons are supposed to be fair.'

'Huh? Is there a restriction?' Kael thinks, opening up his status panel.

[Restriction; permanent until dungeon completion or exit: No magic past stage five]

[Restriction; permanent until dungeon completion or exit: Destructive power is limited]

[Restriction; permanent until dungeon completion or exit: Aura consumption increased by 25%]

[Restriction; permanent until dungeon completion or exit: Energy waste set at 35%]

[Restriction; permanent until dungeon completion or exit: Monsters are 20% more resistant to magic attacks]

[Restriction; speed decreased by 80%]-[Void]-[Does not apply to weak bodies]

'Wait... pfff, no way,' Kael thinks, trying not to laugh. 'Hey system, does this mean what I think it means?'

[Yes, the dungeon has temporarily decreased your energy waste from 80% to 35%]

'Hahahahaha, is this why I feel so good? Damn, there's such a big difference,' he looks at his hand with a sigh.

"We all got the same restrictions," Itto exhales. "Tsk, seriously, limiting what I can do and increasing the energy consumption is diabolical for a dungeon."

"Yeah... diabolical," Kael mumbles, hiding his laughter. "So we're down to level 66?" He looks around. 'That's weird, no monsters and no corpses around. With the current restrictions, Itto and the prince can only use strength equivalent to that of an academy senior, and they can probably use more strength if they go all out, but that will only last for a short while. So I need to be thorough from here on out.'

The prince pushes his messy golden hair with white tips back. "Can we start moving, you lazy fucks?" he pushes himself off the wall and looks at one of the flowers. "I've never seen these before..." he mumbles. The golden light reflects off his silver-blue eyes. 'They might help out...' he thinks before carefully putting a couple in jars and in his pouch.

"This place is slowly getting wider," Kael mumbles as they walk down the path. 'I wonder what type of monsters control this dungeon. Every dungeon has a specific set of monsters. For instance, the dungeon we're making is zombie-based, but other factors are at play. Dungeons can have different monsters but they must have nearly the same properties.'

Vines start appearing, spreading through the cave walls, the same black vines everyone saw in the previous floors. "Isn't it strange?" Itto mumbles, kneeling down to look at them. "We've seen these vines since we entered. Could they all be connected?" He scratches his head.

"Hmhmhmhmhm," the prince slaps his face. "Are you insane? This dungeon is at least a thousand miles deep. There's no way they're connected. It's an unknown species with high reproduction rates." The prince looks ahead and points.

"Damn... it's big," Kael mumbles as they walk out into an expansively long dry forest. It's dark and misty, all the trees are dead with no leaves anywhere. 'I can't see where it ends...' The ground is dry, hard dirt, and there's no sign of life anywhere. The trees look more than just dead; it's like their life was sucked out of them.

"They're rock hard," Itto mumbles, tapping a tree. "Oi, stupid elf, are they all dead? Can you save them?"

The prince walks closer with a yawn and nods. "No way, I would've detected them long ago if they were alive. In fact..." he walks up to a tree and places his palm on it, "I can't revive them. Every drop of life was sucked out of them."

Swoosh!

The three of them turn with wide eyes. "What was that?" Kael mumbles after a second of silence. 'There's something here. Hmm... a stalking type of monster?'

"Whatever it is, it's fast," the prince mumbles, looking around.

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

The three of them constantly turn their heads. "I saw its shadow... it's not that big, but it's flying," Itto mumbles, clenching his sword. 'It's purposely showing its shadow. It wants us to chase it.'

"I say we walk away. I don't think it'll attack us right away. We should move until we find some clues..." Kael says calmly.

"Huh... are they who I think they are?" Ilka rubs her chin, appearing in a sitting position on Kael's head. "No way, they shouldn't be in a dungeon," she shrugs.

Carefully looking around, Itto begins to move. "Tsk, I'd like to fight it, but with the current restrictions, I shouldn't act rashly," he exhales, annoyed. 'Whatever it is, it's hungry. I can feel its gaze, the stench of bloodlust is everywhere. If he wasn't here, I'd take the risk,' he thinks, turning to Kael.

"Oho~ You found some impressive guys. This guy has a well-built technique." She grins, standing on Itto's head, who of course, is unable to see her. "Whitish purple hair, huh? Is he from a clan?" she asks, tapping her chin before turning to see the prince. "Who is he? He feels familiar," she mumbles, staring at the prince.

Kael exhales. 'Why did she come out now?' Before, only Kael could let her out with some concentration, but after a while, Ilka figured it out herself and pops out whenever she wants. The only reason she isn't out all the time is because, despite being dead, she still trains her martial arts inside Umbra. "Oi prince, why didn't the princess enter this dungeon?" 'There you go, Ilka, now put it together,' Kael thinks, focused on the constant movement of whatever is around them.

"So he's a prince..." she rubs her chin. "The current elf prince, huh... Hmm, I see why he seems familiar." Her face goes cold. "I'm leaving again. Do you need my help?" she asks, turning to Kael while floating upside down. Kael gives her a firm 'no' nod. "Okay, bye~ Don't die, okay?" and with that, she vanishes.

The prince exhales heavily. "You kidding me? That woman? She's too focused on the throne to care about this stupid dungeon. Ugh... I don't want to be here either; father just had to force me."

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

The three of them freeze their movements and go silent. 'It's getting closer. Is it going to attack?' Itto thinks with a glare, scanning the misty surroundings.

"Shit," the prince exhales. "I hate suspense. Why the fuck doesn't it just attack?" he groans, grabbing a sheathed sword from his pouch.

"iiiiu...ruroghh... iioouu," a high-pitched, groggy, clicking voice echoes, its tone cracking every second.

"What the hell..." Itto says, taking a step back.

"That's some demonic ass noise," Kael mumbles. They all turn to see the shadow stop running around and move closer. It's around 2 to 3 feet tall, floating mid-air. Its clothes are leaves that look more like rotten black, ripped-up rags. Its head is distorted sideways with black skin, its hands extending outward like a T-rex, with fingers constantly twitching in all directions. Its floating body twitches, shifting its floating height every now and then. Its mouth is open, drooling some black sludge. Its eyes are completely black and dry. It has wings, but they're ripped in certain areas, dirty with black lines all over. If they were clean, they might look like a mixture of dragonfly wings shaped like butterfly wings. The most noticeable thing is the fact that it has chunks of meat missing all over its body—its legs, its face, its wings. Around its body is a black, glittery hue that surrounds it.

"iiiiu...ruroouUghh... iiiiiiiOouuOoOuu," it clicks again, extending a hand out and twitching its head to the side.

"U-um... yeah, it's all yours," Kael mumbles, shivering, taking a step back. 'That thing looks horrifying. What is that?'
