Chapitre 41: Mutation

After a while, Professor Aliza entered the classroom, silencing the chattering students. As usual, her expression remained neutral and her long black hair was tied back in a ponytail.

Taking in the familiar faces in front of her, she stood in front of the students, holding the attendance sheet. Her gaze briefly lingered on Kyle, and a slight frown appeared on her beautiful face.

'He's back.'

However, she didn't address Kyle or anyone else and began calling out names from the attendance sheet. Yesterday, Aliza had become quite upset with Kyle for being absent for four consecutive days. Out of concern, she had left the Academy to investigate his situation.

Upon arriving in Nyan city and witnessing the condition of Kyle's family, she grew worried.

'Why didn't he reach out to the academy for help? He didn't tell anyone.'

She found it frustrating that one of her students was going through a difficult time yet chose not to share it with the academy.

Moreover, she couldn't comprehend how he planned to find the elixir of life, something she herself had never encountered. Despite facing such challenges, Kyle remained composed, which earned him Aliza's admiration.

She let out a sigh, feeling a sense of helplessness. If Kyle didn't ask for assistance, she couldn't provide it. The only option she had was to approach the Vice Principal and request help in finding the elixir of life. However, she knew that even for the Vice Principal, locating the elixir within eight months would be an impossible task.

After taking attendance, Aliza started her lecture, which lasted for almost two hours. Then, she shared some information about the history of the Tower of Opportunity. Many students raised their hands, eager to ask questions about the Tower, as they saw it as an incredible opportunity to grow stronger.

Aliza patiently answered everyone's questions before saying goodbye and leaving the classroom.

Kyle and Nine, who were expecting punishment for their four-day absence, were stunned when the professor left without a word. Anyway, it ended up being a good thing for them, and they exchanged surprised glances.

Alec, who was sitting next to Kyle, stood up and suggested they head to training.

Kyle nodded, and they all left the classroom, making their way straight to the training ground. Other students followed suit, seeing them leave. Soon, they arrived at the familiar training ground.

Alec, Nine, and Carcel took out their weapons and approached the dummies, while Lara and Mia headed towards the long-distance targets.

In the meantime, Kyle stood in front of a dummy, drew his sword, and closed his eyes for a moment.

All the basic sword moves flashed through his mind. Over the past month, Kyle had observed many students practicing various sword arts and noticed a common thread among them—the basic sword moves.

That's why he wanted to master all the basic moves. That way, he could easily take advantage of any openings in his opponent's moves.

After taking a deep breath, Kyle began striking the dummy with all his strength, executing each of the basic moves. He also practiced the first move of his art.

In the midst of it all, Kyle didn't even realize that the sun was setting and the moon was peeking out from behind the dark clouds.

Alec, who was practicing beside him, couldn't help but watch as Kyle's sword became faster and sharper than before. The move Kyle used against Alec had also transformed, now hitting not only the neck but also other parts of the dummy as his sword changed direction.

Alec wondered what Kyle had done in the past week to make such progress. Gradually, all the students left the training grounds to rest for the day. Even Alec and Carcel, tired from their training, joined Lara and Mia, who had also decided to call it a day.

However, Kyle didn't stop. He was so engrossed in his practice that he didn't even notice the training ground becoming empty. Alec looked at Kyle and sighed. Kyle was usually the first to leave, but today he seemed a bit unsettled for some reason.

Among the people present, only Nine knew the reason behind Kyle's behavior. And since Kyle was so focused on attacking the dummy, he couldn't hear the others calling his name. Suddenly, a familiar child-like voice echoed in his mind.

-'Hey, did you just leave me alone in that cramped room? And you didn't even leave any food for me!'

"?"

He finally stopped, and everyone watched as a small red bird flew into the training ground and perched on top of Kyle's head.

-'Why didn't you hear me when I was calling your name?'

Kyle put his sword away and gently petted Bia's head, looking apologetic.

"Sorry, I lost track of time. But how did you find me? It's dangerous, you should have stayed in the room."

-'It's not hard for me to find you because we're connected. And how could you expect me to stay in that gloomy room? If you're so worried, make sure to take me with you next time.'

Kyle sighed and turned around, only to see everyone staring at him with strange expressions.

"What's going on?"

Nine was the first one to ask about the bird on top of Kyle's head. Kyle raised his brow and pointed at Bia.

"It came out from an egg I found during my first mission."

"Oh."

After Nine, it was Mia who approached Kyle and tried to touch Bia because she was just too cute with big blue eyes and red feathers all over her body. To Kyle's surprise, Bia flew towards Mia and landed on her shoulder. Even Lara, who was always grumpy towards Kyle, started patting Bia's head.

'Bia seems to be enjoying herself.'

Kyle smirked at Bia before glancing at Carcel and Alec, but Alec's expression showed complete shock. He blinked and walked towards Alec.

"What happened?"

"Huh, it's nothing."

Kyle shrugged his shoulders when the blue-haired boy didn't give him a proper response.

Alec walked towards Bia, wanting to touch her, but before he could, she started flying, making everyone laugh at Alec. With an embarrassed expression, he smiled bitterly because what he just saw was something that no one would ever know in their whole life, maybe not even Kyle.
