Chapitre 24: Chapter 24: The Devil You Know

Lavinia paced the floor of her office. Casey had been gone most of the evening. By now, it was nearly midnight. She was sure that there was nothing to worry about.

But that didn’t stop her from being scared witless.

Any time Casey was not in her sight, she worried.

It hurt her heart to be this way. She knew it was possessive and wrong. So wrong.

Casey was her own person and needed to do her own things. Even if those things were errands. And Lavinia needed to be alright with that.

But what if she got hurt? Humans were so fragile and easy to hurt.

And this human was special. She didn’t know it, but Lavinia was very fond of her. So fond of her that every moment she was gone, Lavinia was sure that she would not return due to being killed or kidnapped, or running away.

She stopped and frowned. Running away was the least likely now. Casey seemed happier. Kidnapping was the most likely.
