Chapter 55
The outcast
The one who had made the previous attack pulled out a thin sword and rushed at Iris. "This one is mine!" the female assassin said as her sword clashed with Iris, sending the petite girl flying away before the assassin follow her.
The leader assassin addressed the one still at his side. "You, go take care of those two" he pointed at Edward and Iria. "I will eliminate the main target."
"Can't we just watch? I'm not much of a fighter." Edward rose his hands in a placating manner.
The masked man took out two wands from his sleeves and held them tightly. He then made some grunting noises and shook his head from side to side.
"I'll take that as a no...what about money?. I can already imagine who hired you and I can pay even more than he does." Offered Edward.
"Is not just about money, Little Lord." It was the leader the one who spoke. "It is also a matter of reputation. If we were to change sides that easily, no one will want to hire us again. Now…go!" He ordered the other man.
The assassin with two wands conjured a ball of fire in one wand and threw it at Edward and Iria. Then, with the other wand, he create a strong gust of wind that made the ball of fire grow in size and potency.
"Wind shield!"
"Waterball!"
Edward and Iria did their best to block the attack but the explosion of the ball of fire still sent them back.
Siegfried returned his attention to the leader, who had yet to make a move.
"So…I am the main target then."
The assassin leader nodded. "You are. Personally, I don't like killing children, but the offer was too tempting to reject."
"Charles Atois wanted me dead that badly, huh?" Siegfried poked for information but the assassin did not even flinch after hearing the name.
"A true professional." Siegfried took out the spear from his back and observed it.
'The shaft has several cracks and the tip is badly chipped. At this point, this is not much better than a worn-out stick…but is all I have.'
He had examined closely the cultivation base of the three assassins. The other two were at the core formation stage and still had a long way before getting close to breaking into the realm of an Official Magus.
The leader who was in front of him was a peak core formation. He either hasn't had the chance to break through or failed and remained stuck in that realm like several of their teachers.
"This should be fun!" Siegfried smiled.

"Ahh!" Iris yelled as she crashed against a big tree and fell back to the ground.
"Pathetic…I expected more from a Castel, even a defective one like you." The assassin taunted.
"Who are you?!" Iris demanded. "That move that you used belongs to my family!"
The assassin removed her hood and showed her face. She was a young girl in her twenties with long dark purple hair, a similar shade to Iris.
"Light purple hair and wind affinity are the two most well known attributes of the Castel family. But as you can see by my color of hair...my bloodline is not pure enough…like yours." The assassin gave Iris a twisted smile.
"You know nothing about me!" Shouted Iris with rage. "If the Castel family finds out that you are working for an assassin organization…"
The older girl rose a hand. "Im going to stop you there. I am no part of that family! I never was" She spat the words.
"What?, that's not possible." Her eyes fell on the assassin's blade. It was clearly a magical sword. "That sword is like the ones created by the Castel craftsmen and the 'wind slash' technique is a low-rank technique of the family."
The assassin chuckled. "You would be surprised by the thigs you can get away with, a long as no one finds out."
Iris opened her eyes in realization. "You stole them! Have you no shame?!"
The assassin stopped laughing and looked at Iris with a serious expression. "Shame?.... My father is the one who has no shame! He bedded a servant girl, got her pregnant, and then abandon her and her child to root in the servant living area of the family….Yes, I stole a magical sword and several techniques, and one day I will use them to kill my father and anyone in that damn family that gets in my way!. And I think I will start with you!."
She rose her sword above her head. "Wind slash!" Then brought it down with a smooth motion, creating a blade of wind that traveled very fast until it reached the position where Iris was standing.
Iris dodged the blade of wind but still received a cut on her leg. She grunted in pain and rolled on the ground.
"Tsk!, how?... I'm sure I avoided it!"
The assassin rose an eyebrow. "They didn't even teach you this much? When you move the air at such speeds, a small vacuum is created in the area where the wind blade passes, and is able to inflict some damage."
Seeing the confused expression on Iris's face, the assassin started to laugh.
"It seems like you are as much of an outcast as I was. Well, you can die in peace, knowing that one day, I will destroy that family and make them suffer."
Iris clenched her fist. "I don't hate them…not all of them. There are some kind people in that family too." The faces of her mother and Sofia came to her mind.
She took hold of her sword and adopted a defensive position.
The assassin interpreted this as an "at least I want to die fighting" type of move.
"Sigh…how annoying. But fine…I'll give you a quick death at least."
She adopted a similar pose from before but her posture was lower and more feral.
"I only managed to steal two techniques from there…but I have practiced them to perfection. Usually, my wind blade is enough, but as a sign of respect, from one outcast to another, I will kill you with my strongest move."
The assassin moved quickly until she was some ten feet away from Iris. "Wind Claw!"
