Chapitre 9: A man with different titles

William entered the hotel and was about to go to his table to finish his food but he noticed something and stopped. He saw a little girl lurking on the stairs and looking at him with a worried face.

Seeing those worried expressions on her face, William understood that she was worried about Veronica. That's why she sneakily came out of her room here to look for her.

William gave a smile to Roselyn.

"Don't worry, your mother is okay. She will be here soon." William said as he looked at her. Upon hearing William's words, she descended the stairs and approached him.

"What about those bad guys?" She asked with a worried face.

"They are not going to bother you and your mother anymore, so you don't have to worry about them," William patted Roslyn's head and started walking towards his table. Roselyn followed behind him to the table and took a seat in front of him.

Sometime later, Veronica entered the hotel with a dazed look and her gaze landed on William who was sitting at the table with Roselyn seated in front of him.

Veronica felt a chill run down her spine as she looked at William with a serious gaze. He was looking calm and composed as if nothing had happened.

William's gaze landed on Veronica. She was looking frightened. He could understand how she felt when he killed that last guy in front of her.

Veronica took a deep breath and gathered the courage to approach Roselyn and William. Upon seeing Veronica, Roselyn jumped on her seat and hugged her tightly. Veronica caressed Roselyn's head while staring at William who was looking back at her calmly.

"Food looks amazing, why don't you join me along with your mother, Roselyn?" William offered as he looked at her. William's words made her face turn slightly red as she took her seat again. Seeing the look of excitement on Roselyn's face, Veronica also took a seat beside her as she didn't want to spoil her mood.

"This chicken stew is very delicious, it's been a while since I had something this tasty," William whispered as he took a sip from the spoon.

"Yes, my mother cooks very delicious food. Try that chicken gravy, it's also very delicious," Roselyn pointed at another dish on the table in excitement. William nodded his head and took a big bite as a satisfied smile appeared on his face. Placing his long silver hair behind his ear, he looked at Veronica who was sitting in a daze. Her plate was still full of food as she hadn't taken a single bite.

"This food is very flavorsome," he said. Hearing William speaking to her, she came to her senses and looked at him with a serious gaze.

"Who are you, what business do you have inside this city?" She finally voiced out her doubts in a cold voice.

Hearing Veronica's questions, William chuckled and looked at her with a calm gaze. Seeing that gaze, Veronica's heart started beating faster. Despite what she had seen earlier, she didn't want to believe it. How can someone like him kill someone in cold blood? She didn't want to believe her own eyes.

"Who am I? Well, I don't have a straight answer to your question because I am known by too many titles but you can call me William. As for your second question, I don't have any business in this city. I just woke up after a very long time and found myself nearby. So, I came here looking for some answers," William responded to Veronica.

After listening to William, Veronica only became more confused about him but before she could ask anything else, she was interrupted by Roselyn.

"Why is your hair silver? Why do you look so different from everyone?" Roselyn asked in a curious voice.

"Because I am a Noble vampire. That's also the reason why I look so different from any other beings," William responded to Roslyn.

William's words confused Roselyn as she looked at her mother. Veronica was also taken aback and took a deep sigh.

"You don't have to joke around. It's okay if you don't want to tell us about your origin but you don't have to portray yourself as one of those mythological creatures. She is already obsessed with those fantastical stories, you don't have to spoil her more," Veronica said as she looked at William. Hearing her speak like that, William took a deep sigh while Roselyn giggled.

"Why are you laughing kid?" William tilted his head as he looked at Roselyn.

"You are lying, Vampires don't eat food, they drink blood, and they are also vulnerable against garlic and my mother uses lots of garlic in her food," She proudly called out William's 'lies'.

Roselyn's words brought a hearty smile to William's face.

"Well, you are right when you say that vampires can't eat food with garlic and they only drink blood. They indeed are vulnerable to garlic and can be killed by silver. But I am different from those vampires, I can do too many things that other vampires can't," William ruffled Roselyn's hair as he said those words.

Veronica exhaled deeply after observing how comfortable she was with William and how gentle he was towards her.

"Go to your room Roselyn, it's already too late," Veronica gave Roselyn a look as she said those words.

"But mother, I want to listen more..." She complained.

"Don't make me repeat myself. Go to your room, it's too late and you have to wake up early in the morning," Veronica said in a cold voice.

"Listen to your mother, we will continue this later," William interrupted Veronica as he said those words to Roselyn.

"Promise, you will tell me more about vampires," she asked with pleading eyes.

"Yes, I will tell you more about vampires and other stuff that you don't know about. Now go to your room, your mother also has lots of questions for me," William patted Roselyn's head as he said those words. A cute smile blossomed on Roselyn's face when Willian promised to tell her more stories and soon, she left Veronica and William alone in the dining area.

After Roselyn left, the whole place turned silent. Veronica kept looking at William, trying to start a conversation about what happened earlier. Somehow she was not afraid of him but still, the horrifying scenes that she witnessed outside her hotel a while ago were not disappearing from her memory.
