"Wait wait hold on, SOMEONE LIVES HERE!"
I don't quite understand why he's overreacting so much. I mean yeah I'm shocked as well but not as much as him at least, however I was starting to worry I would never run into another human so I'm quite happy he stumbled across my home.
"I guess this is the part where I introduce myself, my name is Auric."
"La… Laloo, my name is Laloo, Auric's a cool name."
Ah, so his name is Laloo… even though he has a big scary appearance you wouldn't expect someone to have such a childlike name, well that's the feeling I'm getting from it.
"Laloo? that's quite a funny name."
"HEY come on man don't make fun of me."
so the man who stumbled into my cabin is named Laloo, he also looks quite different from me, taller with a darker skin tone and darker hair than me, well compared to me as I have pure white hair, as well as my skin, being quite light that is.
"Hey uh, Auric is it, you mentioned something about an orange glow around me, what did you mean by that?"
Oh yeah, now that I think back it feels quite similar to when the rabbit had that red glow except instead of the feeling of suffering I'm getting a pleasant feeling of warmth coming from him instead.
"Uh well, there's an orange glow around you that's giving me quite a warm feeling."
"A glow huh… I feel like I've heard about something like that somewhere, no idea where though."
"Wait so you can't see a colour coming out of me?"
"No I can't, as a matter of fact, this is the first time someone said I was glowing."
Really, does that mean I might be the only one who can see these, no perhaps he is the only one who can't see them, but he said this was the first time someone mentioned a glow around him, what the hell could this mean?
"Ahem… so uh do you know where you're actually living."
"Uh yeah, I live in this forest."
"That's not what I mean."
Upon hearing that I noticed that Laloo had a look of concern on his face as if he was a bit anxious to tell me something, even though some strange things were happening he better not tell me I've been living in some illusion.
"If that's not what you mean then what is it, I've never been able to leave this forest, some strange things did happen today like all the animals becoming incredibly big or even that cave that randomly showed up and not to mention you as well."
"Yes I see, perhaps to you that might seem strange but to me it's quite normal, depending on how strong someone is the dungeons they enter change"
Did he say a dungeon, he definitely said a dungeon right, well that explains why I could never leave this place and how I'll always end back up at the cabin, but I should still clarify if what he said was true
"Did you just say dungeon?"
"No no no I didn't I never said dungeon where did you get that from"
If that's the case then why the hell is he sweating so much and also he's not looking at me anymore, it's like he's trying to avoid eye contact with me.
"Listen Laloo for the last seven years I've been looking for answers about this place, so if you have anything that might help please tell me."
"You've been in here for seven years I see, you must have got stuck in here which is possible since this dungeon we're in hadn't been seen for at least the last seven years."
…
"So we are in a dungeon."
"Yes, I'm afraid we are."
What is Laloo's problem first he tells me this isn't a dungeon and now he's saying it is, does he want to help me or not.
"Hey please don't glare at me like that, I'm sorry I just didn't want to make you panic."
Ah that makes sense now, he was avoiding the question to stop me from panicking but I don't really have a reason to panic, if I think about it I would say I'm more excited, now knowing that a world larger than this forest is out there feels exhilarating.
"Hey uhhh Laloo… why don't we talk more about this in the morning, instead why don't I show you around."
…
During the long silence, I notice that Laloo has a surprised look on his face
"I guess we can but why are you so relaxed around someone you just met, you even invited me into your house."
I don't see the problem he's giving off nothing but a warm feeling plus he's the first person I've seen.
"Why not, you are the first person I've ever talked to."
"Wait ever, what about the other eight years"
"Don't have any memory of them."
There was an awkward pause and I could tell from Laloo's face that he wanted to know what I meant by that but even I don't know the reason for why I can't remember my first eight years of life.
"Here let me show you around"
No answer followed me saying that, only a nod of agreement… we have a lot of things to discuss, tomorrow hopefully he can tell me about the outside. with that, I take him around the cabin showing him the bedrooms and telling him how he can use the guest bedroom as well as telling him how I think the other two rooms belonged to my family all the while Laloo never said anything, hopefully, it was out of respect for my privacy. I then take him outside to show him the shed where I usually prepare the meat before eating it, after I opened the door I noticed how Laloo seemed to be in awe not at the room itself but at me I wonder why, after getting back inside the cabin I hear Laloo say something.
"Hey, I uh know you're letting me stay here for free but I was thinking of cooking dinner as some sort of payment would you be fine with that."
"Of course, I'm fine with that, I don't even know how to cook."
"Are you serious"
*smack* *sigh*
Uhhh why did he smack his face and sigh like that, did I say something stupid, I don't think I did.
Laloo then begins to use the salmon fillets I collected during the day and puts them on the bench, he then proceeds to open up his backpack and pulls out two cylindrical shaped containers one has the letter S on it and one has the letter P which I have no clue what that means.
"Sorry, but what's in those containers?"
"Ah these they're salt and pepper, just a type of seasoning everyone puts on food"
A seasoning… that's put on food… hmm seems like I don't know as much as I thought however the book on cooking did mention that I'm pretty sure, I just deemed it not as important because as long as the food was edible it was fine, I put the rest of my efforts in learning to hunt and gathering various fruits, and water especially.
After watching Laloo's cooking skills in awe for thirty minutes it seemed that everything was finished
"Why do you look so surprised Auric my cooking skills are basic if not worse."
"That cannot be true"
"From your perspective, it may look like that, you have a lot to see outside of here"
That's right I forgot about my living situation perhaps I should bring it up while we eat seeing we have some time.
"Let's eat Auric I have something very important I need to tell you"
Looks like he beat me to it. could it be about this so-called dungeon I've been living in if so I have a few questions I would like to ask him
"I noticed you didn't have any cutlery so take this it's a knife and fork."
Cutlery? A knife and fork this was something I also read in the book but I didn't find any around the cabin so I never got to try them, at least I know how to use them though.
"Thanks, I never found these around my cabin so I'm quite excited to try them!"
"Is that so…"
I could feel the uneasiness in the air and the look on Laloo's face confirmed it, he was about to tell me something that was going to change my view of this world forever
"Do you mind if I start"
"Please"
Here it comes
"As I mentioned before this is a dungeon and an extremely rare one at that, many adventurers have spent decades trying to find this particular one as it's believed to hold unfathomable amounts of money and materials but from what I've seen there's nothing like that here and what I found was stranger… you, I was more expecting an extremely powerful monster but no, ha not even close unless you're a monster in disguise but from what I've seen that's not the case however the reason this dungeon is hard to fine is due to it being a constantly moving dungeon which appears and disappears around the world, people have called it 'Mo-vi-a' usually it can't be found normally but I specialize in sense type magic basically I can feel every thing happening around me within ten kilometers, dungeons emit this type of magic so when I suddenly sensed that I knew it had to be the dungeon Movia so I made my way to it as fast as possible which led me to the entrance which is that cave you saw earlier, you even said so your self that it was never there before. you know what happened after except I'm afraid there's one major problem."
Holy, shit, not only did he just drop a massive truth bomb on me but he's saying that there's still a major problem what could it be I already have loads of questions about what he just said then
"Okay"
I suppose I should let him finish before I start trying to ask questions I'll save them for after.
"Major problem, what is it?"
"People, I'll give it about five hours before shit loads of adventurers start piling into here, and if they were to find you… urgh, I don't even want to think about what would happen to you."
"Wh… why what could they possibly want with me"
"Auric do you not realize your situation, if people found out someone was living in Movia this entire time you would be captured, everyone would be after you questioning you and most likely you'll never see freedom ever again, I hope to get you out of here before that happens."
What… the… fuck, is he serious I don't even know why I'm in here myself and he's telling me that if people know I was here I would be hunted down and interrogated no not even that I could be… tortured.
"Wou… would everyone be out to capture me, please Laloo"
"No not everyone's bad but there are some powerful people who would do crazy things to get someone like you and they would most likely be the first ones to get here."
"So… so what should I, I mean what should we do"
"I'll get you out of here did you forget I have some damn good senses."
This guy is incredible even from what he said all of this would be extremely dangerous yet he's sitting there smiling pointing to himself acting all high and mighty… wow
"I'm glad you were the one that found me first Laloo"
I feel like I'm about to burst into tears, the thought of the possibility of losing my life like that terrifies me
"You'll be alright Auric"
Laloo said that while patting me on the head, I might have used up a whole lifetime's worth of luck just by having him find me before someone else, who knows right now I could be on my way to get tortured if it was someone else.
"Alright with that you should try and get at least some sleep we'll leave in three hours, is there anything you want to take out with you?"
Anything I want to take with me, right I'll be saying goodbye to my home but I can't think of anything I should take.
"No, I can't think of anything"
"Don't worry about it, if you think of something let me know but for now go get some sleep."
It feels like he's acting as a father right now which makes me quite happy as I've never had any family but will he be getting any sleep or is he staying up until we leave.
"I will but what about you, the guest rooms available for you to use"
"Why thank you Auric I'll take you up on that and don't worry about waking up late I have something I can use for that."
Something he can use, could it be another type of magic I really hope so, once we get out of here I should ask him to teach me some… I've always wanted to learn magic.
"Okay well I'll see you in a bit"
"Yeah see you, sleep well."
With that, I head into my room close the door and collapse onto my bed and close my eyes.
…
A lot has happened today, I did have a feeling of being trapped In here but I didn't think it would have been one of these so-called dungeons and a rare one at that, what's even weirder is that Laloo mentioned that this dungeon was last seen seven years ago and that makes it link up perfectly with when I woke up on that day, my parents must have brought me here… but why… I started to drift off
…
*SLAM*
"Huh"
"AURIC GET UP! WE HAVE TO GO!"
What the hell is happening I suddenly get woken up to a loud slamming sound and Laloo screaming at me, something bad must of went wrong, did the other people get here earlier than expected.
"Wha… what's going on Laloo"
"Hurry and grab what you need the sensors I placed at the entrance have gone off."
"Sensors what you can do tha—
"I'll explain later we have to go right now"
I have no other choice but to put all my trust in him right now or else, so getting out of my bed still confused and groggy from waking up I stumble over to the door, I take a final look into my room and notice the note that was left for me all those years ago… the only thing left of my family, I quickly run over grab it and shove it into my pocket and head out of my room noticing Laloo looking out the window absorbed in a thick blue cloud… he's serious.
"Have they reached us yet"
"No, but there are tons of them, maybe around fifty with that number increasing rapidly, if we don't hurry you'll definitely be found"
"Couldn't I stick with you and pretend we're a party or something?"
"That won't work you don't have a rank"
What the hell is a rank is there still more to this world than what he's told me so far, I guess there is. before all he told me was related to my situation, aw man I'm so overwhelmed right now, I want to know more but there isn't time Aaah I'm so frustrated what the hell was the point of the last seven years
"Hey stop with the angry look Auric, I promise to answer all the questions you have when you're safe."
That's right I have Laloo even though he just met me he's risking his life just to help me, for now, I'll do my best not to make him worry any more and save my confusion for a later date.
"You ready, if so follow my lead"
I nod my head to Laloo and as he nods his head back at me he opens the door and we both begin running outside and from what I'm seeing it looks like we're heading straight for the forest assuming it's so we can stay hidden from the others, getting closer to the forest I take one last look back to the cabin except something feels off, looking around I notice one of the blue roses, it was different than the others, it had a very bright pink aura. Taking a step back I hear something.
"Au…ri…c"
"Uhhh Laloo did you hear something?"
"What are you talking about come on"
Even though Laloo was waving for me to follow into the trees I felt drawn to go towards that particular blue rose so instead of following Laloo straight away I decided to take a little detour, I start running towards the rose.
"AURIC Where are you going!"
Sorry Laloo but I'm getting the feeling this is important
"Auric we… we're sorry"
The voice seemed to be coming from that blue rose
"Who are you?"
No response followed that and the pink aura started to get dimmer and dimmer so without thinking I ripped the rose out of the ground and began running back towards Laloo while placing the blue rose in my other pocket, "it might come in useful someday" I said to myself knowing that there must be a reason I heard that now and not earlier.
"What the hell were you doing?!"
Once I made it back to Laloo he began to scold me, I deserved it though seeing I just ran off straight out into the open, who knew what could have happened, I probably gave him a heart attack.
"Let's continue"
As he said that I could feel his sharp gaze on me, I knew he was very upset perhaps worried that I might deviate away from him again
"You better not ru—
"I won't"
"Good"
Laloo ushered me, signaling that we need to keep moving however I pause, pull out the blue rose, and look back toward my home.
"Ha guess this is it, finally leaving this place"
I have no idea whether I'll see this place again but one thing I know for sure is that once I achieve my goal I'll definitely find my way back here one way or another, no one can change my mind.
"Don't worry once I recover my memories and find the family I lost I'll come back, you have my word… Movia"
I turn back to continue following Laloo and notice his eyes on me… he's giving off a smile and a very warm one at that, I guess you could say I found someone I can call family already but still, I need to know what happened to them and how I ended up in here.
After walking for a little while I just realized how sporadically we're moving, one moment we'll be going straight, another moment we continue to the right and the next moment we're going left, could this perhaps be Laloo's magic at work right now.
"Are you using your sense magic right now"
"Of course, I mainly have heightened senses except I've put more practice into my vision which basically allows me to see people from an extreme distance."
Amazing, being able to see people from this distance is incredible and clearly at that, I wonder how he did it, I'm interested to know more about the magic of this world, and I'm excited to see what kind of style I'll lean towards, perhaps I could use magic to help me put on more muscl—
"We're back to the cave Auric and it looks like no one is hanging around the exit so this is our best chance to get out however I ask that you hold onto me and not let go okay"
"Okay"
As I said that we both stand up and I grab onto his jacket tightly
"You ready?"
"Yes let's do it"
"Three… two… one… run!"
After Laloo's countdown, we break out into a sprint however he's not going very fast, it feels like I'm walking slightly faster, maybe running is not his strong suit however despite that we both make it inside the cave with no problems and start to slow down before coming to a complete stop.
Laloo then proceeds to pull something from his pocket and presses it against a rectangular shaped hole in the wall which after around five seconds lines of light started extending out of both sides of the object until they ended up forming a door shape which made everything inside the wall disappear, except the object Laloo was holding.
"You ready to see the outside"
"No other choice for me is there"
We both begin to walk through the door and the last thing I heard was Laloo saying
"Stay behind me Auric there may be people on the other side."
After I heard that in the time it took my eyes to blink, we had appeared on the other side of the cave and what I saw left me shocked to the point that the only word I managed to get out was
"Beau… Beautiful."
Thank you so much for reading chapter 2 and i'm sorry for all the gramatical errors i might of made, i'm still getting used to writing but i know that each chapter will be better and better, this one already felt miles better than the first chapter so i'm excited.
this chapter also took a bit longer than expected but chapter three shouldn't take as long unless i don't finish it in time before i move houses, that might mess things up.
