(Qrow POV)
Summer took one look at the kid eyes widening before grabbing him from my arms and disappearing upstairs to the guest room. Calling "bring me the medical kit, two buckets one full of cold water and a towel. We need to attempt to bring down his fever immediately." I quickly got Yang and Ruby off my back ruffling their hair and placing them the sofa and reassuring them "Just stay here kiddos. Don't worry Daemon will be fine, me and your mum will make sure of it."
I quickly spun on my heel and began to go gather what Summer had asked me to get unable to look at the fear and worry in my nieces eyes. They were clearly worried about the boy and I couldn't blame for it, he had saved them and he paid the price for it. He knew Ruby liked the lad, Summer had told him about how he had made a little bow and began to teach her archery and always gave her cookies. She had also mentioned how Yang had been exceptionally grumpy and unreasonable since the boy had shown up but she seemed worried enough abut the lad now.
I quickly busied myself grabbing a towel an empty bucket and one full of cold water before them grabbing the medical kit from on top of the cupboard in the kitchen and running up stairs to the guest room and seeing the boy. Summer had removed his top and I could see some light scars on the boys hand and chest now that I was close to the boy. He had a good physique for his age and I didn't doubt that he was well trained after the dissolving grimm corpses I had seen in the forest. What I found most concerning was his forearm, it almost completely purple with the exception of the area where the tongue had actually been around his arm which was a bloated white which was peeling and looked to have a layer of yellow pus underneath it. He was sweaty as hell and the sheets underneath him were already wet from it.
I quickly placed the requested items at Summer feet and she without saying a word grabbed the towel and soaked it the cold water before ringing it out and placing it across the lad's forehead. She then opened up the medical kit and got out some saline water and disappeared downstairs telling me "Keep an eye on him I will only be a minute." I stared at the kid and it didn't look good. God damnit I should have been here sooner and none of this would have happened. If; no when, the boy pulled through I would make it up to him, maybe help him train a bit more, teach him how to use a scythe as Sums had already already told me he could use kamas, yeah that would be good.
Suddenly I began to see small flames form on his skin and dance briefly before going out before starting again all over his body. It might just be his semblance attempting to the poison maybe burn it out of his system. I heard the microwave ding downstairs only for Summer to re-enter the room only a moment later holding a hot compress that she then held to the boy's wounds drawing out the pus and infection before wiping it away.
This took almost half an hour before Summer was done clearing the pus and his wound. She rubbed some antibiotic cream all over his arm before carefully bandaging up his arm. I looked closely at her and seemed close to tears so I wrapped her in a hug. Summer began crying in my arms so I attempted to comfort her. "There, there. The boy will be fine Summer. He will pull through, hell his semblance is still working to combat the poison and he has more aura than me."
All I recieved was a few sniffles as she whispered "Qrow, I brought him here to give him a family. Now he is laying a bed poisoned and unconscious, for fuck sake he is only a year older than Ruby Qrow. He almost died and still could protecting my daughters because I wasn't here to look after them and neither was Tai. This my fault."
I winced as Summer swore, since I had met her over thirteen years ago she had only swore four times. Once, when Tai and himself had almost got themselves killed attempting to kill a goliath. Once, when she had taken on a small army of grimm to save a village and had awakened her silver eyes in the process. She had sworn when she had found out that Rav had abandoned Tai and her new-born daughter Yang and left without saying a word. Finally, the fourth time was today. He wished he could persuade her that none of this was her fault but the words wouldn't come out, all he could say was "Summer it isn't just your fault, I should have been here. It wouldn't have been a problem if I had been on time." All I received in response was a self-depreciating smile and a down-cast look as she gently pushed me away.
We both turned to turned to look at the boy and I could see the reluctance to leave written across Summer's face so I reached over and gave her shoulder a squeeze and a small smile. "How about I go and give Tai a call and explain what happened and ask him to pick up some takeout for us and the girls on his way home?" I left the room and gently pulled the door shut behind me.
(End of Qrow POV)
Summer stood at the end of the bed looking at the boy who had saved her daughters' lives at what could potentially be the cost of his own and forced herself to stifle a sob. She remembered his aura chant and knew he wouldn't hold this against anyone; no; instead he was likely to see this as an adventure that he has had and succeeded in. She gave a light smile as she wiped Daemon's forehead before rinsing the towel and ringing it out.
She gently ran her hand down the side of his face and gently kissed his forehead before whispering "Wake up soon Daemon." and laid the damp towel across his fore head before exiting the door saying "I will come check on you on in half an hour."
(Daemon POV)
I woke up after blacking out and he could feel himself getting bumped up and down and rocked around and a muscular man with lank blond hair with part of it in a braid at the front looking directly at me, I quickly glanced around me and found myself on a wagon surrounded by other men, all of us had our hand bound. We were surrounded by woodland on a dirt track. The man with the land blonde hair finally spoke.
"Hey, you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there." I felt shocked at these words, was I in Skyrim right at the start before we got to Helgen when FUCKING ALUDUIN THE FUCKING WORLDEATER showed up. What the hell was he doing here? Why was he here? Then he noticed he wasn't in control of his body, it was like he was watching from the characters perspective. He then felt confusion but it was his own it was like an echo. He came to the realisation that he watching everything that happened in the game from his characters perspective. He really hoped that this didn't cover the whole game or this would take for forever.
A weasel like brown haired man in rags, the horse thief Lokir spoke as he had expected "Damn you Stormcloaks. Skyrim was fine until you came along. Empire was nice and lazy. If they hadn't been looking for you, I could've stolen that horse and been halfway to Hammerfell. You there... You and me, we shouldn't be here. It's these Stormcloaks the Empire wants." His voice was far more venomous than it had ever sounded in the game with and a unexpectedly gravelly tone.
Ralof spoke up again, Daemon knew what was coming and the whole conversation following the script of the game "We're all brothers and sisters in binds now, thief."
A harsh voice spoke from the front of the carriage wearing the traditional brown and red leather imperial armour. "Shut up back there!" The nameless imperial soldier didn't even turn to look at them.
Daemon lost track of the conversation instead taking in the last mans appearance. Ulfric looked like the common Hollywood description of a Viking warrior. He was a middle-aged man with well kept, dirty blonde hair with a few strands of auburn and grey mixed in, blue eyes sharp and intelligent as they stared at him and an average beard, which he kept trimmed and until recently oiled. He had dirt over him however covering his face and clothes. He was wearing a large black fur cloak over top of a dark blue and orange lordly robe. Lokir had noticed the staring contest between himself and the silent man "And what's wrong with him, huh?" nodding towards Ulfric.
Ralof as a loyal Stormcloak immediately piped up in the mans defence "Watch your tongue. You're speaking to Ulfric Stormcloak, the true High King." He could feel an echo of shock run through him, not his own. An expression of surprise immediately spread across Lokir's face "Ulfric? The Jarl of Windhelm? You're the leader of the rebellion. But if they've captured you... Oh gods, where are they taking us?" By the end of this it was easy to feel the panic leaking off of the man as he began to realise what this meant. Ralof react beyond saying in a calm and profound tone "I don't know where we're going, but Sovngarde awaits." He watched with interest as seemed that the blonde man had already accepted the death that awaited him and had made peace with the fate that awaited him. He began to wonder if this was common due to the warrior nature of the culture in Skyrim or perhaps some sort of soldier mentality.
A shrill wailing pulled my from thoughts "No, this can't be happening. This isn't happening!" Lokir was panicking. Huh, would look at that apparently it wasn't just part of Skyrim's culture. I scoffed at his cowardice which immediately proved my inner musings wrongs about it being a whole of Skyrim thing.
Ralof had also noticed Lokir's panic and began to question him, maybe to calm him down and take his mind off of the upcoming execution that awaited them all. "Hey, what village are you from, horse thief?"
Lokir however didn't response kindly to this question and response with scorn "Why do you care?". Ralof however did not let this deter him or break his own calm demeanour "A Nord's last thoughts should be of home.". He could feel the phantom emotions that the man, his character, himself must be feeling. Bitterness, pain, longing and nostalgia all coursed through him as well as respect for the man in front of him. Daemon himself also could not help but feel respect for the resolve that the man in front of him held.
Lokir spoke again this time his voice was kinder and held a hint of regret and longing. "Rorikstead. I'm... I'm from Rorikstead." His eyes made it clear he was no longer really in the cart with him but instead was back in his home.
As Lokir answered their final destination had come into view. A fortified medieval city with high stone towers and walls. They were approaching a gate which had imperial guards patrolling the top of it. Everything made from a combination of wooden logs, straws and heavy grey stone bricks.
The imperial soldier at the front of the cart called out to a man dressed in a more ornate uniform with silver hair "General Tullius, sir! The headsman is waiting!" So General Tulius himself was here he could feel him crane his head to get a better look at the man who lead the Imperial army in Skyrim couldn't really get a good look.
A deep and firm voiced called back with a hint of steel to it "Good. Let's get this over with." He saw the man who spoke on a horse surrounded by other men with ashen skin and pointy ears also on horse back around his.
Lokir let out a pray, the fear clear in his voice as they passed under the first gate into Helgen "Shor, Mara, Dibella, Kynareth, Akatosh. Divines, please help me." Lokir appealed to the gods that were worshiped in Tamriel. He could however only remember that Akatosh was the head of the pantheon and the god of time. He was also supposedly the father of all dragons and dragonborn as well.
Ralof then spoke up again while gazing at the man on the horse "Look at him, General Tullius, the Military Governor. And it looks like the Thalmor are with him. Damn elves. I bet they had something to do with this. This is Helgen. I used to be sweet on a girl from here. Wonder if Vilod is still making that mead with juniper berries mixed in. Funny, when I was a boy, Imperial walls and towers used to make me feel so safe." His voice was dripping with venom as he spoke of the Thalmor before going soft as he reminisced about his past and the girl he once fancied.
A child of around ten years old spoke to an man beside him presumably his father as they stood on the porch of a house just outside the large stone keep "Who are they, daddy? Where are they going?"
The man beside him a set of hide armour with rust coloured hair answered softly "You need to go inside, little cub."
The child filled with curiosity questioned the man again "Why? I want to watch the soldiers."
This time the man was less soft, his voice containing a steel that it lacked previously. "Inside the house. Now." The boy hung his head and responded in a disappointed tone "Yes, papa." and walked inside.
The cart they were in stopped alongside another one as it before a large stone tower with a chopping block set out in front of it. A headsmen stood there with a large axe glistening in the sun. The imperial shouted "Whoa!" as the horses pulling the cart came to a stop.
A dark skinned women dressed in the steel armour of an imperial army captain called out in angry tone "Get these prisoners out of the carts. Move it!" Her eyes were dark and cruel with no care for the assembled prisoners.
Lokir whispered in panic to those around him "Why are we stopping?" Ralof answered his question with a harsh tone "Why do you think? End of the line. Let's go. Shouldn't keep the gods waiting for us." Yet he seemingly remained unfazed by his impending death.
Lokir was quick to shout and plead for his life as he tried to preserve his own life "No! Wait! We're not rebels!" Ralof seemed to only grow annoyed at the mans continued cowardice and his constant pleas and spat out "Face your death with some courage, thief."
Lokir however did not stop turning to Ralof and the other stormcloaks and pleading "You've got to tell them! We weren't with you! This is a mistake!" drawing looks of disgust and distaste from imperials and stormcloaks alike.
The imperial captain stepped forward alongside a brown haired nord dressed in imperial armour holding a list. The captain then spoke up "Step towards the block when we call your name. One at a time."
Ralof while calm commented on this with a venom that didn't fit with his calm appearance "Empire loves their damn lists."
The brown haired nord bagan to read from the list he held "Ulfric Stormcloak. Jarl of Windhelm." The bound Jarl stepped forward with a stony expression, not an ounce of fear or panic visible within him.
Ralof quickly spoke up and gave a bow of his head to the man "It has been an honor, Jarl Ulfric!"
The brown haired imperial continued in his reading of reading of the list. "Ralof of Riverwood. Lokir of Rorikstead."
Lokir looked around a frenzied look in his eyes struggling against his binds "No, I'm not a rebel. You can't do this!" This shout of panic and fear he ran, his hands still bound. He ran in a straight line as the imperial captain shouted after him. "Halt!"
Lokir keep running calling back to them with a hint of madness in his tone. "You're not going to kill me!" The Imperial Captain didn't panic and merely raised a hand as he heard the sound of bows being drawn.
"Archers!" The sharp twang of bowstrings as the snapped back into place as arrows whistled through the air filled his ears as Lokir fell to the ground with three arrows planted firmly in his back "Anyone else feel like running?" The Captain asked with a gleeful tone and a sadistic glint in her eyes as she surveyed all the gathered men.
The brown haired man glanced between Daemon and the list with a confused look before addressing him directly "Wait. You there. Step forward. Who are you?" Daemon could feel his own confusion as he realised they had not put him on the list for some reason.
He gave his name yet it was not his voice that spoke but one that deep but held a certain musically quality "My name is Daemon Ebon" Daemon's mind was racing as he realised that he was seeing the world of Skyrim from his characters perspective.
The nord gave him a look filled with pity "You picked a bad time to come home to Skyrim, kinsman."
The man holding the list he then turned to the captain and questioned "Captain. What should we do? He's not on the list."
The Captain gave a slight small smirk of sadistic pleasure as she looked him up and down "Forget the list. He goes to the block." The man gave a heavy sigh "By your orders, Captain." before turning to him and speaking, his voice resigned and apologetic "Follow the Captain, prisoner."
The silver haired man was speaking to the bound and gagged Jarl with a condescending tone that only contained mirth and satisfaction at the situation. "Ulfric Stormcloak. Some here in Helgen call you a hero. But a hero doesn't use a power like The Voice to murder his king and usurp his throne."
As he spoke he used this time to take in the General's appearance. He stood at around six foot and an inch tall with cropped silver hair and a tanned weathered face. He wore the standard imperial boots and bracers but his chest plate was different. His chest plate was made of thick leather with what appeared to be bronze layered over the layers of leather. Like a ancient Greek battle skirt it also bronze covering in plates down to the bottom where a small piece of red fabric stuck out. The red leather shirt underneath it was visible on his arms and his neck. The front of the armour had the Imperial insignia emblazoned across it with gold flourishes and a black leather belt carrying a multitude of gold medallions hung around his waist. To finish his ensemble a deep red cape hung fasten to his shoulder by gold clasps carrying the imperial insignia.
From his belt hung an imperial sword with an ornate handle with black leather and gold embellishing. It hummed with energy and when he squinted it had a light blue glow suggesting it was enchanted.
Ulfric due to his gag couldn't respond to the accusation or the taunting nature of it. He only managed to give a few muffled grunts around his gag with a hateful look in his eyes as he gazed at the general.
General Tullius continued his monologue in a self-righteous tone "You started this war, plunged Skyrim into chaos, and now the Empire is going to put you down, and restore the peace." His imperial propaganda washed over those gathered as they ignored or scoffed at the man's words.
Suddenly a loud roaring sound rung out across all of Helgen if not all of Skyrim. Everyone shivered and fought down the urge to flinch at the noise. It was a innately primal sound that could only come from the most apex of predators. Strangely however he didn't feel the cold trickle of fear but the harsh heat of desire and wrath with a spark of anticipation roar through his blood at the sound. He felt his very being sing at it and compel him to roar his challenge back but he fought down this unknown urge.
Daemon could feel his characters confusion at the feeling he just felt but Daemon knew that was his soul. The soul of the last dragon born recognising its destined enemy and the anticipation it held for their inevitable clash. Dragon's fire coursed through his vein eagerly awaiting the conflict.
The brown haired imperial looked around a glimmer of supressed panic in his eyes as he asked to all gathered "What was that?" He was clearly unsettled by the roar and obviously knew something was wrong.
General Tullius brushed off the sound and any further thought of it to focus on the execution that could mark the end of the civil war "It's nothing. Carry on." gesturing for them to continue with a steely look. The imperial captain was quickly to follow the man's orders "Yes, General Tullius. Give them their last rites."
He felt himself mutter under his breath "Captain bootlicker." Daemon could feel the scorn in his tone as he glared at the captain who was sentencing him to death without a second thought.
A Priestess of Arkay stood in front of the chopping block and began to recite a holy passage "As we commend your souls to Aetherius, blessings of the Eight Divines upon you, for you are the salt and earth of Nirn, our beloved..."
A Stormcloak Soldier interrupted her with a defiant and annoyed tone "For the love of Talos, shut up and let's get this over with." The Priestess of Arkay looked annoyed and surprised at the interruption before merely nodding her head and acquiescing to the soldiers demand "As you wish."
The soldier strode forward and got his knees before the captain kicked him the back leaving his head on the chopping block as he gave his final words of defiance to the gathered Imperials staring directly at General Tullius before letting his gaze brush over the other imperials "Come on, I haven't got all morning. My ancestors are smiling at me, Imperials. Can you say the same?"
The headsman raised his great axe above his head before bringing it down with a hard swing as it sliced through the air then the skin, flesh, muscle and bone of the soldiers neck with a wet squelch as his head landed in the basket and his body fell to the side of the block as it twitched and spasmed in death.
Another one of the storm cloak soldiers shouted at the gathered imperials "You Imperial bastards!" while shouts rose from the crowd that had gathered to watch the execution of the prisoners. "Justice!", "Death to the Stormcloaks!" and a few other calls were made.
Ralof merely bowed his head in respect to the man who had just died and gave praise "As fearless in death as he was in life." He looked saddened by the man's death yet he didn't speak any further on the matter and just closed his eyes and prayed for the man.
The imperial Captain had a blank face but the pleasure and satisfaction was clear to see in her eyes as she then turned towards him and spoke "Next, the Nord in the rags!".
Another roar echoed throughout the city as everyone appeared unsettled by the noise glancing about to try and spot the source of the bone chilling sound. The brown haired man had a harder time concealing his unease this time around "There it is again. Did you hear that?"
The imperial captain only looked at him before shrugging off the disease and steeling herself before bellowing out "I said, next prisoner!" The brown haired man gave him another apologetic look before coaxing him forward in a kind tone "To the block, prisoner. Nice and easy."
He walked forward feeling his legs grow heavy but Daemon could feel the stubbornness and pride that would not allow him to display even the slightness bit of panic at the though of his death. He stopped in front of the executioner's block and saw the decapitated head in the basket as the imperial captain forced him to his knee and he rest his head on the chopping block.
As his head touched the block and the executioner began to raise his axe up to behead him another roar shook the entire village. It was so loud he felt his bones vibrate and the ground around him shake. He looked up and he saw a great black creature flying in the sky behind the tower.
Around him people where also reacting to the dragon in terror, confusion or just being mystified as to its presence. General Tullius stood in shock and awe as he questioned aloud not comprehending what he had just seen "What in Oblivion is that?"
The imperial captain called out to the imperial soldiers that stood up on the walls "Sentries! What do you see?" All she received as a response was a panicked shout in response "It's in the clouds!" A mad frenzied cacophony rose up as weapons rung as they were drawn. People screamed and shouted in panic and all the birds and animals in the area began to flee.
A stormcloak was the first to name the creature despite everyone knowing what it was "Dragon!" Alduin the black dragon was quick to prove why he was name bringer of the apocalypse as he let out a great shout in a langauge that seemed to resonate with him causing the sky to turn orange and meteors and fire to rain down upon Helgen.
When he looked up however he felt that his heart might stop. A large shadow passed over them as the temperature of the air around them raised. Suddenly the stronghold shook and the tower groaned as if under some great weight before a wave of force flung the headsman from his feet and to ground beside him causing his axe to miss as he let out a large "Huhhh." as he fell.
On top of the tower behind where the headsman had stood was a dragon. It was massive almost forty-foot in length with long glistening talons which held the tower beneath it causing the stone to crack and crumble. To large black wings, like long pitch black curtains made from the toughest leather, spread from its spine each around fifteen-foot each in length. It scales were beyond description, the closest being possible was to describe the colour of it scales as being like a black hole. A juxtaposition as a black hole has no colour and is just an absence of light. yet it fit perfectly for this being. This being a juxtaposition of it own, beautiful and terrifying, magnificent and regal yet bestial and barbaric, divine yet bound to the mortal plane. The beast had two great dark horns curve up from its head and its eyes glowed a coruscating orange as it stared down at them like ants.
No description seemed adequate for this being. Demonic, divine, bestial, regal. They all fit and Daemon knew why. This was Alduin, the first son of Akatosh, The World Eater, The Twilight God and the Bringer of the Apocalypse. Yet his body and soul seemed ready to roar a challenge back even in the face of this terrifying being. Is this what it meant to be dragonborn.
Alduin then took a long hissing breath that seemed to drag in all the air around him and unleashed a might shout "Fus... Ro... Dah!" causing a wave force, an almost invisible pressure rippled through the air to blast everything away everything that it hit. In the process it killed the headsman with the force of the shout sending his body flying like a ragdoll as he was flung away and Daemon was sent flying away from the chopping block at the same time.
General Tullius despite the panic and the massive dragon was quick to take command of the situation and attempt to salvage it, issuing commands quickly "Don't just stand there! Kill that thing! Guards, get the townspeople to safety!"
Ralof called to me from a nearby watch tower and I slowly managed to get to my feet despite my hands being bound and rushed toward them as he called. "Hey, kinsman. Get up! Come on, the gods won't give us another chance!" Ralof kept shouting encouragement "This way!", "This way, come on!"
Meanwhile the imperial soldier scrambled around in the midst of the carnage. "What in the Eight Divines is this thing?!" one called out while another was crushed beneath a meteor. Another was attempting to rally his comrades "Keep your eyes on it!". Some of the other soldiers were panicking and screaming "How in Oblivion do we kill this thing?!", "It's still coming!", "By Ysmir! Nothing kills it!", "Die! For the love of the gods, die!". Daemon felt himself or rather his character, 'err... this so weird' feel a sense of vindictive glee at their despair.
He finally made it to the tower where inside Ralof, Ulfric and some other stormcloak soldiers stood waiting. He stood as Ulfric removed his gag and Ralof turned to ask him a question "Jarl Ulfric! What is that thing? Could the legends be true?" his tone one of confusion, wonder and dread.
Ulfric merely gave a grim smile followed by a short concise statement that felt like being hit on the head with a hammer.
"Legends don't burn down villages."
This statement left all of them breathless, hearts racing and dazed by the realisation of what this meant.
An explosion was heard outside like a crack of thunder that set them all on edge. Adrenaline courses through their bodies as they prepared to run or fight against an impossible foe.
Ulfric gave a command a sense of urgency plain to hear within his voice "We need to move. Now!" Ralof was quick to catch on and rally himself and the others in the tower and gestured upwards "Up through the tower, let's go!"
One of the stormcloaks looks at the injured pair that are sitting in the bottom of the tower "They're hurt, but they'll live. Another second out there with the dragon, and they'd both be dead..." he trailed off as he couldn't finish his sentence. Ralof began his way up the stairs, Daemon at his heels "Let's go! With me, up the tower!"
A pile of rocks blocked the bottom of the stair well on the second floor. Seeing this one of the stormcloak soldiers stated "We just need to move some of these rocks to clear the way!" Yet they never got the opportunity as Alduin bashed through the wall next to the staircase right next to Daemon causing him to back pedal which was wise as Aludin released a torrent of flames "Yol...Toor...Shul!" killing the stormcloak who had been about to start moving the rocks as he let out a series of horrific screams,
Alduin the gave great roar and flew from the tower to continue destroying the rest of the town. Daemon slowly moved forward Ralof right behind him looking out of the hole made by Alduin. Ralof was quick to devise a plan and told him what to do. "See the inn on the other side? Jump through the roof and keep going! Go! We'll follow when we can!"
After jumping out of the hole and into the ruins of an adjacent inn, Daemon quickly ran through the burning rubble and out onto the street where he saw the brown-haired imperial soldier who had read the list earlier and gave him a pitying look.
The soldier called out to the boy from earlier who had been told to go inside by his father "Haming, you need to get over here. Now! That a boy. You're doing great. Torolf! Gods... Everyone get back!" Alduin hovered in the air above the boys father who was on the ground wounded and he let out a great stream of fire by shouting "Yol...Toor...Shul!". When Alduin stopped his fire there was nothing left, not even ashes of the man who been there only a moment ago.
The brown haired soldier turned away from the scene and faced him again "Still alive, prisoner? Keep close to me if you want to stay that way." He then turned to an elderly man with an iron chest plate and a glass eye. "Gunnar, take care of the boy. I have to find General Tullius and join their defense."
Gunnar gave a nod and gestured the boy towards him "Gods guide you, Hadvar." Hadvar then ran with me following closely as we down a small alley between a house and a wall when Hadvar called out to me "Stay close to the wall!" causing me to press up against it as Aluduin landed on the wall above us facing down the road in front it. letting out a torrent of flames "Yol...Toor...Shul!" After a moment the dragon once again took flight.
Hadvar began to move again "Quickly, follow me!" leading me up a pair of wooden stairs and then through the remnants of a burnt down house onto the road by which we had entered the city. It was now surrounding by burning houses and plants, wounded men and was covered in soot and ash.
General Tullius and a few other men were close by as we approached. He called out "Hadvar! Into the keep, soldier, we're leaving!" Hadvar quickly gave a nod of agreement and turned to me "It's you and me, prisoner. Stay close!"
We quickly approached the keep only to Ralof alone, having for some reason split from Ulfric and the other stormcloaks. He was quickly noticed by Hadvar who shouted at him "Ralof! You damned traitor. Out of my way!"
Ralof responded quickly and with a stubborn tone "We're escaping, Hadvar. You're not stopping us this time." gesturing for me to come with him. I paused as I didn't know what to do, Ralof had saved me at the start and been be in same postion as me a prisoner. Hadvar however had also helped me survive and had been kind and sympathetic to my situation even if he could not help.
Hadvar had clearly grown impatient of my indecision and spat at us both "Fine. I hope that dragon takes you all to Sovngarde." Before running off to some where else.
Ralof wasted no further time and gestured for me to follow him inside the keep "You! Come on, into the keep!" Once inside the keep I saw a dead stormcloak in the centre of the room. Ralof drew a knife before advancing towards making me tense up. He then quickly cut the binds around my hands and gestured to the dead body.
"Take his equipment, he won't be needing it anymore." I didn't waste anytime and quickly took the mans axe and armour. He was roughly my size and the armour fit well and didn't pinch or chafe or limit my mobility even if it was a little heavy. I tested the axe with a few light swings and it felt good in my hand. I ran my nail down the blade, it was sharp with no chipping, rolls or deflections on the blade edge.
I also saw my reflection in the blade. I appeared around twenty-three with plume hair and a pair of silvery blue eyes with what looked like a claw mark scar running over my left eye. A short beard covered my face and my fell over my shoulders. My arms and chest were corded with muscles and scars. I wonder if this what I will look like in the future in my new life. Because if so, sign me up.
I turned as I heard a noise and gestured for Ralof to duck and hide. A gate open and out of it stepped the imperial captain and another imperial soldier. I gestured to Ralof for him distract them which he did by standing and bellowing imperials causing them to turn towards him rapidly as I crept behind the one in the armour and brought my axe down on the back of his head as hard as I could slicing through leather, flesh and bone causing my blade to lodge inside his skull with a horrible crunch and a wet squelch. I quickly yanked it back out causing blood and pieces of brain and bone to go flying as he collapsed forward dead and blood puddled around his body.
I then turned to the captain a sense of glee running through me as I prepared to kill her. She earlier would have killed me for no reason but now. Now, she would be the one to die.
I stepped forward swinging my axe down which she deflected off her blade making frown as I stepped causing her step back as I swung again staggering as she was forced to block. I quickly followed it but was again deflect so this time I swung up pushing her sword up before shoulder checking her causing to stumble before punching her in the face and then swinging my axe down on her sword hand causing it to be cut off with a squelch and a wet thud as it hit the floor. She let out a scream of agony before I picked up her sword and slammed it into her exposed throat causing her to fall silent.
I drew the sword out of her body and examined it. It was well made and maintained. It felt balanced and I could manoeuvre it easily. It appeared that my character had some experience fighting and wielding weapons. I quickly scavenged from her corpse the scarab for the blade and an iron dagger as well a key made of iron. I stripped her armour even though it wouldn't fit me and then used flames to burn her corpse. I waved my hand and the boots, vambraces and chest piece all disappeared much like when I used my inventory and I heard Ralof mutter "By the Divines, you can use space magic." I then put the helmet and asked "What now?"
Ralof quickly gestured for door and said its locked so I quickly checked and the key I had just found on the captains body was a perfect fit. Before we left I grabbed the other imperials weapon so I could sell it or melt it down later.
Suddenly however the world blurred and time sped up as I saw myself/ my character fight his way out of Helgen past imperial soldiers, frostbite spiders and a bear. I saw myself walk to Riverwood and select the warrior stone as well feel the power coursed through me.
I saw myself talk to Ralof's sister and get given supplies before staying the night and then gathering supplies in the town and asking about information. An interesting piece of information reached my ears from a local. The local shop keep had had some kind of crystal claw stolen from him and would pay a handsome price for its return.
I then left at night traveling the roads to Whiterun as I had been asked to notify the Jarl there about what had happened at Helgen. I saw myself fight bandits and wolves along the road as I travelled through the night before arriving at Whiterun.
One of the major cities of Skyrim and home to the companions, an ancient warrior tribe that had nurtured some of the greatest warriors in history. It was a city with high walls made of stone and a great castle at the very top of the city. It was beautiful.
As I approached the city I saw a group of three attacking a giant on a bit of farm land and seeing one of them injured quickly decided to lend them some aid charging in a hacking deep into the heel of the giant with the imperial sword that I had got in Helgen. The giant fell to the ground after trying to take a step and one of men a brown haired man with a feral look in eyes fell upon the giant now that is was down stabbing it through the eye with a great sword.
Once this was done one the people who had been fighting, a women with brilliant red hair and a face covered in green war paint and grass green eyes approached him, bow in hand. "Thank you for the help. We couldn't really fight with the new initiate having been downed. Oh and my name is Aela of the Companions" This drew his attention to the downed man who's armour seemed to be caved in, he doubted that the man would survive. Aela clearly saw the look in his and gave a slight nod of agreement.
"What brings you here anyhow warrior." she questioned him to which he responded "I have come to see the Jarl with news about what happened in Helgen." She looked at him curiosity apparent in her gaze "Oh, and what happened in Helgen?"
I took a deep breath and said "It is gone, razed to the ground. It is but ruins now." Aela's expression turned alarmed "What? How? Why are we only hearing about this now?" I took a deep breath and exhaled "You wouldn't believe me." She only raised an eye brow in response to my comment the message clear, 'try me'.
"Two days ago a massive black dragon razed Helgen to the ground." She looked at me and laughed "How much mead had the man that told you this had? Had he been on a spiritual journey, taken some herbs?" She clearly thought it was a joke, her eyes gleamed with mirth as she mocked him, laughing.
His next words however stopped her in her tracks. "No one told me this. They didn't need to because I was there when it happened."
She stopped laughing as she studied his face and saw he was serious. The blood drained from her face immediately as she realised that he was only telling the truth. "This, this is bad. Really bad. Fuck. A fucking dragon destroyed Helgen. Shit we need to get to the Jarl immediately. Kodlak would also want to here this. Would you visit Jorrvaskr after meeting Jarl. I am sure we can arrange mead, meat and room for the night in exchange. Maybe you could even join us."
Aela barked some orders at the two men before turning sharply on her heel and gesturing for him to follow her, leading him to Whiterun.
