In the Headmaster office, a long meeting with the teachers had come to an end. It was very normal that in a school, the teaching staff met to discuss how the academic year was used.
The tests had ended a few days ago and most of the teachers had already distributed the grades.
Most of the Gathering was spent with Flitwick praising Adam, and celebrating that this year they were ahead in the house points.
However, even though the meeting ended, two professors remained in the room. Due to the secrecy of the matter, only the Deputy Headmistress and Snape were asked.
McGonagall was the Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts, and was at the top of the list when it came to knowing about school affairs. It would not be unusual for her to have more information authority than the other professors.
As for why Snape had stayed. Well he was loyal to Dumbledore, the headmaster trusted the former death eater. And within Hogwarts, Snape was his shadow agent.
''Minerva. How was Mr. Potter? '' Asked Dumbledore.'' Any problems outside of class? ''
''Arrogant as his father,'' snorted Snape from the side.
''Minerva?'' Dumbledore knew of Snape's bias against Harry and could not take the Wizard's opinion into account.
McGonagall glared at Snape, she couldn't disagree more with his words. ''Potter is a good boy, he couldn't expect less from Lily's son. '' McGonagall paused, and sighed. ''Of course it is evident that he is also James' son, and that Sirius is his godfather.''
Snape couldn't hear James and Sirius' names without frowning.
''And the event with Mr. Malfoy, has everything been cleared up? ''
''Potter certainly was hasty, Draco was just playing a joke.'' said Snape, ignoring the look McGonagall had for him.
''Please, Severus, you know very well how Malfoy behaves. And since when is talking about the Weasleys' financial condition a joke? '' She snapped '' The actions of Slytherin students are getting beyond the limits, Albus. ''
''No comment,'' said Snape, not caring about anything said against his students.
''Teachers, please.'' Asked Dumbledore. ''Minerva, we can't stop students from causing trouble. We should just assign appropriate punishments.''
''Like sending Potter to the dark forest at night?'' said McGonagall indignantly, the matter still not quite clear to her.
''What did you have in mind, Albus? He's only eleven years old.'' She gave the Headmaster a questioning look.
Dumbledore sighed and looked out the window. It was as if he had aged many years as he listened to McGonagall question him. He knew that the only reason the teacher still followed his words on this matter was the great respect she had for him.
It wasn't just McGonagall who was looking at him questioningly. Snape had the same look, he was loyal to Dumbledore, by the promises of the past. But he could tell, the headmaster was hiding something from him about the boy.
''I know Minerva, I know… But it's the only way I found ''
McGonagall asked no more. She knew how much she should want to know, and could tell just by her friend's appearance over the past year, that he carried a lot of worries.
''I hope you did school right, Albus,'' She said before falling silent.
''Me too...'' murmured Dumbledore.
''Well Minerva, I won't take your time anymore. Severus, a word please''
McGonagall took a deep look at the two Wizards before leaving.
After she left, Dumbledore shifted his gaze to Snape, and asked:
''Severus, how did it go with the request I made?''
''Looks like Mr. Davies knows more than just a few tricks,'' said Snape. ''His occlumency defenses are admirable for his age.''
Dumbledore looked at Snape in surprise, it was very difficult to hear him praise a student.
''Did he notice you, Severus?'' asked Dumbledore carefully.
''Impossible,'' snorted Snape. ''Has no idea what happened, continued making his potion as before'' Snape was confident in his abilities, and not for a second could he believe that he would be caught by a child.
''That is good''
Dumbledore was silent, thinking, his gaze deep.
''I kept an eye on Mr. Davies,'' said the Headmaster. ''But don't let him find out, just let me know when he sees Harry.''
''As you wish''
Snape nodded in response. But his mind was in doubt. 'Why had Dumbledore shown so much interest in a first year student? '
The days after the end-of-year exams were calm. There was nothing really big going on. At least not for most students.
This time, Adam was part of the group away from the fray. He spent most of his time playing chess or other games with Terry and Anthony.
He didn't visit the room of requirements, the most he did was exercise his magic before going to sleep.
When he felt that his tolerance for social interaction had reached its limit, he would read a bit of the rune books he had. Having relied on Merlin's book and learning the Wizard's original runic alphabet, he looked at runes with new eyes.
And in just a few days he made good progress in creating functional runes. This was an important step towards the personal project that he would be working on during this vacation.
This morning, Adam arrived at the main hall and was surprised by the news he heard.
'' What did you say ? '' Adam asked him to repeat.
''I swear man, some students saw Potter's parents arriving at school this morning,'' Terry explained. ''They seemed worried''
Adam nodded and understood one thing.
'So it happened last night. Was everything as expected? '
Adam knew that the chances of Harry dying were very low, unless Hermione got the potion wrong and he was burned to death.
''Do you know anything else? '' He asked
''No.'' Terry shrugged. ''All I know is that no one is allowed into the hospital wing. ''
''Really?'' muttered Adam and thought for a while before getting up.
''Hey, where are you going? '' Terry asked confused, they didn't have class and Adam had just arrived, he had barely touched the sausage and eggs.'...'
''To the hospital wing,'' Adam replied without stopping his steps.
''You didn't hear what I said. No one can enter.''
''I heard''
''Then ? ''
''They'll make an exception for me''
''Why ? ''
''Because I'm a member of the family''
Terry was speechless, and didn't say anything else before going back to eating.
''I think he hit his head or something,'' he muttered.
After leaving the great hall, Adam made his way to the hospital wing.
Coincidentally, just as he was arriving, someone was leaving.
Adam was facing the door when it opened and Dumbledore walked out.
'What did he say to the Potters?' thought Adam with interest when he saw Dumbledore.
He didn't know if Harry's parents had known that Voldemort was alive this whole time, or if they had been in the dark until now.
It wasn't just Adam who eyed Dumbledore with interest, the old Headmaster was doing the same.
His blue eyes scanned the young Wizard in front of him.
''Good morning, Mr Davies,'' he said, his voice aged.
''Good morning, Headmaster,'' Adam replied before looking at the door to the wing and asking with a curious look, ''Looks like Hogwarts had a busy night last night? ''
A curious light shone in the old headmaster's eyes. ''A restless night, yes, it really was''
Adam showed disappointment as he spoke.''Really? really a shame, I can't believe I missed a nocturnal adventure''
Dumbledore looked over the top of his glasses.'' I'm afraid this was one, as you say, Mr. Davies, 'adventure', which you were right to miss.''
Adam gave Dumbledore a dubious look.'' Don't joke, Headmaster. I heard that Weasley also participated. If he came back in one piece, I doubt it was anything too dangerous.''
''It seems that the sense of humor, which Minerva talks so much about Mr. Davies, is real,'' said Dumbledore, smoothing his beard.
''professor McGonagall is so kind,'' he smiled. ''Complimenting me in front of the headmaster... maybe I should send her some chocolates.''
''Bit bitter, if I may hint,'' Dumbledore said with a smile.
''I'll write it down.'' Adam nodded before continuing. ''Now, Headmaster. If you'll excuse me''
Dumbledore nodded and went on his way, his eyes clouded over as he smoothed his beard.
Adam looked at the departing headmaster , this had been his longest conversation with the old Wizard.
'He's very strong' His eyes sparkled. Dumbledore was without a doubt the most powerful Wizard he encountered. During the conversation, he felt a strong magical pressure emanating from the old man's body.
Others might not, but how could he not?
Adam shook his head and didn't think much of it, he always knew the old man was strong.
''He didn't ask my reason for visiting..''
Adam expected Dumbledore to question him, but he didn't. That was the part he hated most about thinking about Dumbledore, you could never be sure what the old man had in mind.
After collecting his thoughts, Adam stepped forward and opened the door.
As soon as he entered he was interrupted by Madam Pomfrey, the woman glanced at Adam and saw that he wasn't hurt.
''No visitors'' She said wanting to push him out. ''Only family members''
Adam dodged the hands that tried to expel him and smiled. ''I am kin'' He said
''You Are?'' she asked confused.
On a bed in the living room, Harry lay, with several minor cuts on his face and a tired expression. On one side of the bed was Isabella, on the other were Lily and James Potter, the couple's parents.
'' You are ?'' The same question was asked by the four when they heard what Adam said.
Adam took advantage of Madam Pomfrey's distraction and approached the bed, towards Isabella.
''I came as soon as I heard about it,'' He said with the best concerned face he could muster. ''Isabella, are you okay? ''
Isabella was glaring at Adam, the last time they spoke, she ended up offending him, and so much had happened that she didn't have time to apologize.
Also, it was thanks to Adam's tips that they managed to get past the three-headed dog. But there were still too many questions about what Adam knew she didn't have the answers to.
Yesterday, as they faced danger, she'd often thought that Adam would appear at any moment. This time it wasn't because she expected him to save her, it was more like he sought to face Voldemort, out of revenge.
'Perhaps that was why he knew so much, he was also seeking to prevent him from returning? '
But he didn't show up... and the questions remain unanswered.
''Isabella? '' Adam called again.
''Ah, yes I'm fine.'' She replied snapping out of her thoughts. ''Just a few scratches''
''That's good,'' he said and looked at Harry on the bed, who was looking at him with a curious look.
'Looks like he already knows I was the one who told him how to get past the dog.' Adam noticed that Harry's look at him was different this time.
'At least there's no hostility ' Realized
''How are you Harry, long night right? '' He tapped Harry's leg as he spoke.
''Too long,'' Harry said.
''Cough cough'''
Adam turned and looked at James who was examining him.
''Who is he, Isabella?'' Lily asked Isabella. She didn't know Adam as one of Isabella's or Harry's friends.
Isabella looked at her mother with a questioning look, as if asking why she had to introduce herself, couldn't she ask him directly?
''Mom, Dad, this is Adam Davies,'' she said, pointing to those involved.''A friend''
''Adam Davies,'' repeated Lily before her eyes lit up. ''So he was the one who helped them with the troll incident? ''
Isabella nodded, but wasn't sure if 'helped' was the correct expression.
Adam took one look at Isabella and smiled in the next moment.
''So are the father-in-law and mother-in-law.'' He said with enthusiasm. ''We finally meet–''
Adam stopped talking when he was hit by a bottle thrown by Isabella.
''Alright..we'll keep it a secret for now..'' He words barely came out as he saw Isabella picking up the vase of flowers now..
Adam cleared his throat and smiled as if nothing had happened. He looked at Lily who had a thin smile on her face and an amused look.
''It's a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Potter,'' he said.
''It's nice to meet you too.'' She replied extending her hand. ''Thank you for helping my children''
Adam accepted the compliment and placed a gentle kiss on the witch's hand. ''Now I understand where Isabella's beauty came from.''
Lily smiled at Adam's compliment. ''You are really adorable''
''Yes, really lovely,'' James said from the side, but the smile he wore seemed more evil.
He saw the young man in front of him, showing interest in his lovely daughter, pure as an angel. And by her reaction to just throwing a bottle and not hexing him to death as he'd advised before she came to school, it made a worry arise in his mind.
And then he saw the same young man praising his beautiful wife. James sighed peacefully when he saw Lily thank him with the word 'Lovely'.
'That's my wife' he smiled inwardly, the lovely word was like a blow to the heart. Treating him like a child...
' he's a child, well… it doesn't matter take this'
''Mr. Potter.'' Adam reached out to James.
''Mr.Davies'' James squeezed Adam's hand and held it there for a while, looking the boy in the eyes.
''Aren't you ashamed of bullying a child, James?'' someone who had just arrived said, amusement in his voice.
''Sirius,'' said Harry excitedly.
''Hey boy, how are you''
''I am fine''
''Didn't know dogs could come in,'' joked James.
''Wasn't it you who was bullying a child just now? '' Sirius replied with a smile on his face as he looked at Adam.
Adam had been examining Sirius since the wizard arrived. He looked young, his shoulder length hair, a smile on his face whenever he spoke, you could see the confidence he had and a playful manner.
'The best marauder indeed'
Adam sighed as he remembered how he would have looked after spending twelve years in Azkaban. Very different from the current one.
Sirius was one of the characters that Adam most respected, his story was both heroic and sad, full of tragedy. A pity for someone as loyal and brave as he was.
''Adam Davies, it's a pleasure to meet you.'' He said extending his hand to Sirius.
''Sirius Black''
Adam knew it was time to return the moment of privacy to the Potter family, he had already been quite annoying by disturbing such a delicate moment like this. After all, if Dumbledore hadn't told him, surely Harry had told him who he fought in the hall of mirrors.
''It was nice meeting you.'' He said smiling.
He turned to Harry and reached inside the uniform.
''Good recovery, Harry'' took out a box of chocolates and placed them on the table.
Everyone present looked curious, wanting to know where he got that from. As much as Adam pretended to pull it out of his shirt, the adults knew that no school uniform could have an increased gap.
'Did this child just invoke an object?'
It was normal for them to be surprised, as much as they knew about the event with the troll they didn't know everything.
''Thanks, man'' Thanks Harry.
Adam nodded in response.'' It's nothing. We can have a party afterwards if you want to celebrate'' He said as he left.
''Celebrate what? '' asked Harry confused.
'Your survival? Adam rolled his eyes, and opened the door, leaving a sentence behind.
''Harry Potter Two, Snakeface Zero''
