#Chapter23
With the arrival of morning, the sun bakes down on the wet earth as the party of men makes their way carefully through the thick undergrowth towards the gully, the flies and mosquitoes rejoice as they buzz around the group. On reaching the gully, which has been reduced to a small trickle of water, they find a way across and move in the direction of the large thorn tree that dominates the area.
The area where the lion had started to feed on the victim still has traces of blood and small slivers of bone scattered around. The three trackers spread out, looking for any tell tale signs of the man-eaters tracks, and Isaac comes across the poor man’s sandal lying in the long grass, with drag marks clearly visible in the drying mud.
