On arrival Piet and David are greeted by an empty village, there is no sign of life anywhere in the area, except for a few curs rooting amongst the rubbish, looking for anything to eat, and the few goats that wonder in-between the hut. The cooking fires have been abandoned and the smell of burnt food drifts across on the still air.

/"Isaac see where the people are; let them know we are here for the man-eater./"

/"Okay Bwana Piet, maybe they hide in the forest./"

Isaac walks over to the centre of the village, and at the top of his voice calls to the villagers, and slowly, one by one the doors to the huts open and very frightened people start to emerge into the sunlight, see the Land Rover and suddenly they swarm around the hunters, all talking at once, and pointing towards the forest.

/"Isaac, get them to shut up, I can’t hear a bloody thing that they are saying./"
