Bella

After the beach excursion, I went home. Everyone was trying to cheer me up but having a broken heart sucks. I walked in and sat down on the couch. I flung my head back and stared at the ceiling.

Dad walked over and sat down next to me, doing the same thing. /"What are we looking at?/"

/"Oh, I’m thinking about secrets./" I shrugged.

/"Care to elaborate, or should I read your mind?/"

I lifted my head and looked at him.

/"Mind reading, it is./" He placed his fingertips on my temples and closed his eyes. /"I see a girl who was dumb and kept a secret when she shouldn’t have. I see a boy who is also dumb and doesn’t trust the girl. And I see me burning a shirt./" He opened his eyes and removed his fingers from my head.

/"You’re not helping, Dad./"

/"Bella, there are two things that you need to learn in life. One is to wear clean underwear every day, and two is relationships take work./"
