Chapitre 708: Unsettling information

"Humph." Sebastian, unfazed by Maxime's apology, snorted disdainfully. He had no intention of forgiving him. "Your jealousy led you to plan to kill Jasper," he fretted. "Jasper is the future boss of the gang. I selected him. But you dared to challenge my decision." 

Maxime, caught in the crossfire of accusations, denied any intent to challenge Sebastian's authority directly. "No, no, boss. I've never thought of challenging you."

However, Sebastian, sharp and perceptive, didn't buy Maxime's protestations. He cut through Maxime's defense. "Is that so?" Sebastian growled. "You think you are better than Jasper and planned to be the next boss. Isn't it against my decision?"

Maxime cowered under Sebastian's gaze, his face pale and clammy. He found himself unable to refute the accusations, realizing that his thirst for power had led him to act against his boss's wishes.
