Marcus Cutler POV:
“I can’t believe you, Marcus,” Angela seethed as she stalked around the room, circling me like a shark.
“No offense, Angela,” I began, “but your approval isn’t something I really care about right now.”
“You’re a disgrace,” Angela continued angrily. “You’re a disgrace to the Red Chapter. You’re a disgrace to humankind in general.” She stopped, putting herself between me and the tunnel I had come from. “How could you do this? How could you throw your life away like this for a monster?”
I shook my head. “I don’t owe you an explanation, Angela,” I told her. “And even if I did owe you one, you wouldn’t understand.”
“I wouldn’t want to understand anyway,” Angela bit out. “Something as vulgar and obscene as a human being in a relationship with a vampire. It’s better to just put you down now.”
“I was thinking that same thing about you,” I admitted darkly.
“So, you came here to kill me?” Angela accused.
