Marcus Cutler POV:

Julia walked me to her front door, and as I stepped through, I found myself on the porch of the first house I had checked. Looking down the hill, I could even pick out the place I had watched the house from. I couldn’t help giving a small laugh.

“You could have saved yourself a lot of trouble if you had just listened when my imprint tried to talk to you,” Julia said quietly from behind me.

“Yeah, I can see that now,” I admitted.

I turned back to Julia, I found her hold out a bag off the cookies she had put out for me.

“You can take them,” she offered. “You’re going to need them more than I will.”

Slowly, I accepted the bag. “Thank you, Julia,” I said, not knowing what else to do.

She gave me a small smile. “Your car is at the bottom of my driveway,” she told me. “Goodbye, Marcus.”

That was the last thing she said before closing the door.
