"I heard you and that boss of yours, Severino's bastard son, have been getting close."

Bastard son? Does he mean literally or was that an insult? I feel queasy all of a sudden.

"You mean Giovanni? I don't know what you're talking about. He's my boss. He's good to everyone." And really, who tells him these things?
