Caspian shot through the trees, running frantically toward the screams that echoed through the air. Sage followed, struggling to keep up. She nearly ran into him when he suddenly stopped. They had arrived at a large clearing where the forest ended and the mountains began.
The space was huge, stretching on for miles in either direction, hugging the foot of the mountain. The cliffs overlooked the town that was placed there, huts and homes spread out. Sage gasped as she saw some of the homes in flames, the smoke climbing into the air in black clouds.
There was another piercing scream and they spun to watch a female shifter hit the ground, her cry a painful howl as she gazed up at the floating warlock above her.
