I looked at Westley, trying my best to keep my cool but was failing epically. I looked around the room at my beloved pack. I could count on Feren, Gawain and perhaps a few more of my packmates to support me and fight at my side despite my decisions. But a wolf’s heart, even a pup such as Westley, was fickle and often quick to turn rogue.

“Does anyone else feel this way?” I asked. No one answered outright and I was tired of playing games. “Who else feels that I’m making a big mistake by going to rescue a HUMAN girl from the clutches of another pack? The very same rivals, need I remind you, who have taken your fathers, mothers, brothers, friends, and those who held in your heart away from you?”

One of the packmates, another young pup by the name of Laine, raised his hand. He was a bold one.

“We just don’t want you to die over a human woman, my Alpha,” he said. “We care too much about you.”
