Chapitre 8: Night Talk

"So is this your way of telling me to attack you?"

Lydia pulled her hair back, tying it up, as she began to read through her records.

"No. Cut it out."

Lillia slid her arms around Lydia's shoulders.

"Then why do you tempt me so much?"

Becoming frustrated, Lydia pinched the bridge of her nose.

"It's just in case that brat comes out! I can't have her running around the mansion, screaming about being a Demon!"

Lillia leaned against Lydia's back, her breasts pressed against her neck.

"And what is this?"

"Just a... record. It's of my expeditions."

Lillia reached out, trailing a finger down the listed records.

"Hmm. You easily deal with stuff like this? Why did you have so much trouble against a Demon like that?"

Lydia flinched.

"W-what? Was that one really so weak? Everything about it made me feel so small, so weak and helpless."

A pit began to form in her stomach.

"Lydia, is your conviction so weak? I expected you to be stronger than this."

Lillia scoffed to herself as she moved away.

"To think I believed you could be my match. My bride. Ahh... forget it. You're just another weak human."

The dark glint in her eyes shattered Lydia. Her mouth was hung open as a hot streak slid down her face. Seeing this, Lillia's mouth was pressed into a line.

"This is what I meant. A small amount of killing intent and you're crying?! Pathetic. I'll be gone in the morning. Forget we ever met."

Lydia wrapped her arms around herself.

'Stupid, stupid, stupid! You shouldn't have let her get to you! Steel your heart, harden your resolve! To hell with killing intent, just stop making it hurt!'

Lydia got to her feet, trembling as she headed for the door. Lillia watched from the bed, snapping her fingers as Lydia touched the door handle. As she began to turn it, Lillia raised a brow.

"So it wasn't my killing intent?"

The door slammed hard as Lydia disappeared down the hallway.

"Did I make a mistake?"

"My Lady."

A familiar voice came from the window. Doren's furry form appeared, half bowed.

"It should be fine. She's clever and strong."

"Then why are you biting your lips? You always bite them when agonizing over something."

Getting to her feet, Lillia began to pace.

"I-I was just trying to push her away! Demon's are an incredibly powerful race! I don't want her to run off and fight one, only to find out that she can't even attempt it! Doren, is it so wrong for me to protect her? I was harsh, but..."

She began to pout, slowly shrinking down as her skin grew pale.

"This stupid feeling in my heart, why do I have to bear it!?"

Doren placed his hand on Lillia's head.

"You were always bad at things like this, to the point you made this disguise. Hiding your true self just to cry, a pure existence if I ever saw one."

Doren continued to stroke her hair for a while until her shoulders stopped shaking.

"Perhaps we should leave. This should give you some clarity. Being with a human was always an impossibility, even with this connection."

"Let's go. Take me home."

Hours later, Lydia reentered her room. Her eyes were swollen and her feet were unsteady. A near empty bottle was loosely held in her fingers. Upon seeing the room, an annoyed laugh escaped her lips.

"I should have just let my inhibitions go. Maybe you would have stayed."

Tossing the bottle to the side, it clattered on the ground. The liquid spilled out as it spun, while Lydia simply laid back on her bed. A soft scent touched her nose, giving her a strange feeling of longing and agitation.

"Both sides were... lovely."

Grabbing the blanket, Lydia bit back a cry of rage as she bundled herself up. Before long, she was sitting up with her blanket swirled around her body.

"Why do I want her so badly? Do Demons have such an affect?"

Her mind wandered for a time, her thoughts becoming more depraved until her face was flushed red.

"How would it have felt... having her touch..."

Her fingers began to touch her body, slowly gliding down her loose clothing.

"I want more."

Giving in to her sudden urge, Lydia began to pull her clothes off. Her fingers against her skin made her breath hitch until she stopped completely.

"She should be here. I... want her."

Leaning back, Lydia hugged her blankets to her body. Her eyes slowly fell closed, her dreams enveloping her.

-

"Hold tight, My Lady."

"Yeah. I can do this. Separate myself from this new weakness."

"Oh. I never did see your other earring. The black diamonds you treasured. I saw it vanish, but could not find any hint of it."

"Hehe. It isn't important. She can keep it, if it's there."

Lillia pressed her face against Doren's back, memories of sneakily piercing Lydia's ear with a combination of magic.

'She should find it some other time. I just hope I don't have to use the other function.'

Her eyes slowly fell closed as she was rushed through the night sky.
