Book I Chapter 28
…
Hyuna nodded her head while still seated on the bed leaning her back on the headrest.
"I'm Na-na…" she introduced.
After a few small talks and introductions, the group walked out of the small courtyard.
"Father… Can… Can I get this permission to get to know… Miss Na-na…" the taller of the two young men suddenly asked.
"Big brother… this is unfair…" the other one suddenly interrupted.
"Stop… Stop…" Man Do Hun stopped his two sons who began to argue.
"Miss Na-na is our benefactor… I will not stop you guys if you want to woo her… But know this. She is not some soft lady that you normally know. She might look docile for now, but remember that she is able to stand against a cultivator…" he warned the two before leaving.
The two young men look at each other. Even after their father's warning, their fighting spirit did not wane as they have not seen such beauty in their entire lives.
She is even more beautiful than those female cultivators in the sects, so how could they just give up such an opportunity?
Meanwhile, after the group of people left, Hyuna tried to stand up but she suddenly winced in pain as she felt her side and her leg about to break apart.
"Damn it… How long will I be staying in this place like this?" she muttered.
…
Unknown to her, several figures are scouring the town in search of her.
Ji Eun, Han Joonho, and the rest are now looking all over the town just to find her.
But no matter how hard they try to search they could not find even her shadow.
They heard and even investigated the battles last night.
Several of the Man family members were attacked last night.
But they dare not join in the battle as this fight does not include cultivators. This is a mortal's battle, so they did not join in.
The only time that they joined is when they find cultivators on the masked men's side. After getting rid of those cultivators, they would not interfere anymore.
After the battle is when they discovered that Wu Jin is gone and had not actually waited for them.
So the whole night they look everywhere even in the morning.
"Senior Gong… I think we should just go back to the sect for now… I will talk to Elder Il about this…" Ji Eun advised.
They need to go back or else the sect would punish them.
Without a choice, the group went back to the sect and left the town of Yemo.
…
Two days later…
A drawn picture of Hyuna was now posted all over the town. But the way her face is drawn does not resemble her female features and her current hairstyle. Plus, they are looking for a male and not a female.
Meanwhile, Hyuna at this time can already stand up.
At this moment, she is seated on a chair while watching sword training.
She was entranced by the way these people wield their blades.
It does not contain any fancy movements or wasted actions while wielding their swords.
Everything relies on the accuracy and speed of their actions.
Actually, in just one day, using runes, her wounds have already healed. But she decided to stay in this household because of her curiosity when it comes to how the sword is wielded by them.
Even after facing that cultivator and the dangerous battle last time, not many of them actually died.
Most suffered heavy wounds, but only a few died in that battle.
That also tells her the reason why there are far too many assassins that night and those guys even employed a cultivator.
"This is the swordsmanship style of our family…" Man Do Hun explained with a smile.
"Wow… fascinating…" Hyuna muttered in excitement.
In her arsenal, she only has the few techniques given to her by her mother. But those techniques require her to advance further in her practice as a Rune Maker.
So, she is trying to create her own sword style. But it is not that easy to create one's sword technique even after learning a lot from the library.
She has already run the scenario back in her mind when fighting that cultivator guy. If she has learned this sword style combined with her rune body enhancement, then she would have already taken down the guy without exerting too much effort.
She knew of her lack of experience in battle, but she is also aware of her lack of techniques.
But now that she had seen such a technique she could not help but admire these people.
"Master Hun… Can I try?" she suddenly asked in excitement.
"Huh? But… But your body is still…" the eldest son, Man Jong-il, wanted to stop her in concern.
"Yes, you should not push your body that hard…" the second son, Man Jun-su chimed in.
After the two stood up to stop her, they glare at each other as sparks could be felt between the two.
But Hyuna ignored them and just walked to the practice ground.
"I think she truly wanted to learn the family's swordsmanship…" Ro Suyi muttered.
Man Do Hun shook his head as he knew that it would not be that easy to learn it no matter how hard this young girl would try.
It would take years for her to learn such a profound technique, so he did not stop her.
But how could he have known that Hyuna has already recorded their techniques in her yesterday's visit, and then last night, before coming to his place, she has already compiled it in her subconscious mind?
She began waving the sword in her hand and then took a stance and began swinging it using the basic fundamentals of their sword.
Though she is a mere mortal, she is not your regular mortal. Hyuna's body has been honed and trained along with her mind to adapt to any techniques she could encounter.
As she grew up in the sect, this is what she has learned and her adaptability is truly outstanding.
Once she compiled something in her subconscious mind, she would begin to adjust her muscles and her breathing according to what she has recorded.
While swinging the sword continuously, Hyuna is also starting to adapt to the range of the sword domain of such a technique.
"So this technique has a two attacking range… long and middle range…" she muttered.
"Just like any mortal sword technique…"
"But its close-range is all for defense and no attacks…"
After gaining an understanding of the swordsmanship, Hyuna stopped and then handed the wooden sword to one of the men training in the field.
"Thank you for showing it to me…" she said as she cupped her hands towards Man Do Hun and the rest.
The family was having lunch when they suddenly had a visitor.
"Ah… My nephew… It is so nice that you could visit this uncle of yours…" Man Do Hun greeted the good-looking young man wearing a white robe who just enters the dining hall.
He is holding a folding fan with him as he elegantly walks inside and greeted everyone.
Then suddenly his eyes landed on Wu Hyuna who is playing with Man Eun Ji on the side.
"When did such a beautiful woman appear in Uncle's home?" he thought as he was truly mesmerized by the woman before him.
Seeing where his gaze just landed, Man Do Hun cleared his throat to attract the young man's attention.
"Ahem… Nephew… Is there any news from your father?" he asked.
The attention of Man Chulwoo went back to his uncle and quickly shifted his gaze.
"What… What did you say, uncle?" Man Chulwoo asked while he suddenly glances at Hyuna from the corner of his eyes.
"Sigh… I'm asking about your father…"
"Ah, yes… I'm actually here to tell you that… It was the…"
Before he could finish his words, Man Do Hun suddenly interrupted him.
"Seok family… I already know that… The Seok family has collaborated with some other families and clans in the town to attack us… But what will your father do? What did he decide to do?"
"Umm… I am just here to tell you that he wanted you to… Lie low for a while…" he replied awkwardly.
The eyes of Ma Do Hun went wide in disbelief.
"What is this? Should we just wait until we are all slaughtered?" Man Do Hun growled in anger.
He had lost a few good men in that attack. If not for the young girl who came to their rescue, then he would have already died.
And now his brother wanted him to wait?
How could he accept such a plan?
"Uncle… my father… he… he has a plan… Just trust in him." Man Chulwoo tried to appease his uncle.
A slightly gloomy atmosphere enveloped the dining table at this moment.
Suddenly, Man Chulwoo gasped as he covered his mouth.
"Wait a minute… I… I think I remember it now… It was you…" he said while pointing at Hyuna.
But then he suddenly frowned as he tried to sniff the air. However, his expression changes as he could not find the supposed scent he has put on her at that time.
He walked closer and began sniffing the air like a dog.
But his forehead was blocked by a palm.
"Cousin… I think it is not right for you to sniff like that towards a young girl… right?" Man Jong-il glared at his cousin.
Meanwhile, Ro Suyi currently frowning as she squinted at Man Chulwoo's reaction of sniffing the air.
She could not help but smirk at her husband's nephew. She had detected that particular scent and she is familiar with such tricks.
They have been dealing with cultivators in this town, and not all of them belong to the honorable sects.
That is the reason why when she detected that smell, she quickly took the precaution to erase the scent on the young girl's body to be able to protect her.
