Kaida took a few moments to examine the items that Merchant "Kale" was selling, but he lacked the "runes" necessary to purchase any of them.
How do you acquire runes?
You must either kill them or locate them in the wild. Any enemies you kill will drop a certain number of runes proportional to their level, and there are a few Golden Runes strewn about that when broken, will yield a large number of runes.
He pushed aside his thoughts and concentrated on what was in front of him. As a camp was nearby, the knight patrolled the forest while clad in distinctive armor and carrying a sword at his waist. The knight stopped walking when he became aware of Kaida's presence. He approached him slowly and positioned himself between Kaida and the camp.
'Shit! The game only has one knight patrolling, but how come two appeared?'
A knight got closer to him and said something in a language Kaida didn't understand. It sounded like an insult. But seeing his hand getting closer to the sword on his hand, Kaida screamed, "ATTACK!"
Two zombies jumped from the bushes and attacked the two knights after hearing their commander. Before they could even react, they were firmly in the grip of the zombies.
"Hold fast!" In a panic, he conjured the maximum number of silver needles he could and stabbed the first knight in the soldier. In contrast to him, the nail was not dissolved, but even when the knight's blood splattered everywhere, he made no sound, which frightened the other two.
"You are the knight whom I rescued, and you have sworn to me in return." Upon observing the knight's cloudy eyes, he wore a broad grin on his face.
The silver nails, the only thing holding his shattered mind together, had the ability to brainwash a person into obeying his commands. This ability, however, only affects the living; when he stabs an undead creature, he can literally implant his 'Will,' granting soulless body functions. It is unknown how this ability manifested after the death of his parents.
After telling the knight to kill off the others, he wanted to order the soldiers to give him their armor frist. Sure, some of the armor was too large for him, but he wore what he could and used a soldier's sword.
"ACH!"
Everything was proceeding smoothly until Kaida cried as a sword pierced his back. Wide-eyed with despair, he painfully turned his head to see a second knight who had apparently been hiding the entire time.
"ATTACK HIM," he wailed as he fell to the ground, blood gushing from his wound. Thankfully, the zombies and the soldier attacked the knight before he could stab him again, killing him instantly.
'It hurts, it hurts! Please stop... AAA... System! Please, please!'
He felt his wound's pain as if it were real, making him bleed profusely. His vision blurred as he gasped for air. The knights he had saved earlier stepped forward and kneeled before him. They, too, were panicking, shouting in a foreign language.

"ACH!" Kaida wailed while gasping for air. He surveyed his surroundings and saw that he had returned to his own world before collapsing back onto the bed. A whimper escaped his lips as he curled himself into his bedsheet.
There was pure fear in his heart; his heart was pounding so hard he thought it would explode at any moment. He couldn't believe what had just happened. He was about to die, but then he was teleported into a different world. And now, he was back here, alive after being stabbed.
His mind was still foggy, but he knew he needed to get out of his house. He stood up and walked towards the door, opening it and stepping outside only to run back to his bed to cry his heart out.
'What happened? Why am I here? What do I do next?'
Tears rolled down his cheeks as he sobbed. He wanted to know why he was even reincarnated in another world, where he even got an ability. Was it because he sinned in his last life? Is this Hell? Or maybe he was cursed? No, maybe he was chosen to be sacrificed. That must be it. Reincarnated as a sacrifice.
The ringing of his doorbell stopped him from crying. His spine shivered, but he pushed the fear back into his mind and pricked himself with another silver nail. Upon retrieving the phone from his pocket, he noticed an Itami who was disheveled and crying. Almost instantly, he leaped off the bend and dashed towards the door. But just as he was about to open the door, he stopped.
'Was I just going to run into her arm?' A thought entered his mind. He can already guess by the time on the phone and her messy clothes what happened. With a deep breath, he slowly opened the door, he was ready not to let his past feeling cloud his judgment.
"Kai-kun!"
Just as she was about to leap into his arms, he stopped her by raising his hand. He stated while staring at her with a serious expression, "What happened? Did he take your first time and cast you aside?"
There was a surprise in her horrified expression; Itami had never heard or seen such a cold tone from her childhood friend in her life. For a second, she was even surprised if she came right to the house.
"N-No... He wanted t-to... and i-i wanted to w-wait... *Hic*... He then proposed to me...*Sniff*... I was so happy I spilled everything... About you and m-my childhood..." Itami couldn't continue and started crying.
"I am sorry, Itami... I can't be the person you come to whenever you need me and toss me away whenever you don't. It's good that at least he didn't force himself on you, I am sure he didn't want to deal with a broken girl like you."
Kaida's response was cold and monotone. Making her shocked. She didn't expect Kaida to say anything. He was always the one to comfort her, to make her feel better. Now, he was the one who was hurting. He was the one who was in pain. He was the one who was suffering.
And all she could do was stand there and cry.
"N-No! That not true -"
Kaida interrupted her, "Don't lie to me, and don't make me lose what little respect i have for you. We both know what happens once you step inside the school. You ignore me and act like i am air. And you know exactly how much pain I am in when I see you rubbing yourself on Hiroji. Now that he rejected you, you came back crying? How selfish of you!"
"I'm sorry, Kaida. I didn't want to hurt you. I was so stupid. I was so selfish. I was so blind. I was so—"
She was interrupted again by Kaida's voice, which was filled with anger.
"YOU WERE NOT BLIND. YOU ARE STUPID. YOU DID THIS ON PURPOSE. TO HURT ME. FOR WHAT REASON?!"
The words were like daggers piercing through Itami's chest. He was right. He knew he was right. But he was just too weak to say anything. She had been ignoring him for months. Not only ignored him but also made fun of his feelings. She was a hypocrite. A liar. The worst kind of person. He should hate her for what she did.
He shouldn't forgive her. He shouldn't trust her. He shouldn't love her anymore.
He shouldn't love anyone ever again.
He shouldn't care about anybody else's happiness.
He shouldn't give a damn about the people around him.
He shouldn't give a shit about anyone's problems.
He shouldn't give a fuck about anything.
He shouldn't give a damn about himself.
Slamming the door shut behind him, Kaida walked back to his room. His mind was in turmoil, and he felt something lifting off his chest. But he was still in pain, and he was still in agony, he was still in despair. But he was no longer uncertain. He knew he had to forget about her. He had to move on. It might take a week, a month, or even a year. However, he was eager to move on.
"Hey, system, are you there?" Kaida questioned. Wanting to know
"Hey, system, are you there?" Kaida questioned. Wanting to know transportation to the game world was a one-time thing. Though he was scared, knowing if he died in the game that, he would come back, he wanted to give it another try. Maybe it was the unknown calmness in him that was making his fear left aside or something else.
Suddenly he wanted to become someone better than himself. Someone stronger and more powerful. Someone who could protect those he loved from harm.
He wanted to be someone who could save others from pain and suffering.
He wanted to be someone who could help others.
He wanted to be someone who could change the world.
He wanted to be someone who could bring peace and harmony to this world.
He wanted to be someone who could stop wars and stop the violence.
He wanted to be someone who could stop the pain and suffering in this world.
"Okay. I am getting too ahead of myself. Save the world? Pfft! Where did this even come from?" Kaida mocked himself. After the death of his parents, he had firsthand experience with the corruption of the world. Not only was there no investigation, but everyone also ignored it, as if his parents had never existed.
It was then his power manifested.
It was then he knew he was reincarnated into a magical world, and his parent's death was somehow related.
Why? And how? He didn't even know what was going on. He only had the vague knowledge that he was born in a different world and needed to find out how.
His mind was clouded, making him unable to think properly. He just couldn't figure it out; everything was so unclear. He couldn't focus. All he could do was just sit here, thinking about it. And then, he suddenly realized; if he was going to change, he would have to start at home.
He needed to learn magic so that he could figure out who killed them. His mind was a little hazy, but he could still recall the bloodbath when he returned from school.
The house was littered with blood marks, the furniture was broken as if a wild beast had broken inside. Worst of all, the bodies of his parents were mangled.
The investigation concluded it was a wild beast attacked inside; somehow, he felt it was wrong. If it wasn't for how people ignored the death of his mother, the security cams were destroyed, and the recording was wiped, he too would have thought a bear had killed them.
