Valerio's eyes dilated, and without hesitation, he rushed towards Everly and embraced her, shielding her with his body.

Gunshots resounded continuously, and finally, when they stopped, Everly, who had her eyes shut, blinked her lashes apart, her heart racing rapidly within her.

"Valerio…" She mumbled his name and lifted her head to look at him.

His heavy breathing resounded in her ears, and the moment she glimpsed his face, her heart skipped a bit.

"V-Valerio..." She stuttered as she gazed at his mouth, which was filled with blood.

Did he... get shot?

The moment she thought it, her heart pounded nervously within her chest and she tried to get out of the chair, but Valerio, however, grabbed a hold of her and held her down.
