Aiden clenched his fingers together in anger. That was all he could do in order to keep from screaming at Alain.

"Alain, this is important. Please let me talk to Ryan."

The person on the other line hummed playfully.

"I don't knowww," he drawled. "What if Ryan gets upset? Did you not hear about the recent incident with the werepires? Ryan is VERY busy. He doesn't have time to cater to ex-lovers."

"I would not have called if things were not urgent. Please, just tell Ryan I called. If he doesn't want to speak to me, I won't bother you anymore."

Alain giggled.

"If Ryan wanted to speak to you, he would have taken your calls on his cellphone. Good night, Aiden."

Stupefied at the blatant rejection, Aiden sat in a daze for a few minutes.

He could not believe it.

The young man then walked over to his bedroom window and drew the curtain aside. He then opened the window and leaned against the sturdy frame.
